Hey all;

Interested in knowing more about this Charger for the magazine. I'm wondering if anybody knows the car and more about it's history? Has it been talked about on here before? They give a quick run down on their page but I'd like to know more.

The car was in Venezuela, hidden for long time. Was recently taken to USA just right to the Mecum action by a guy who uses to make bussines with valuable local cars outside Venezuela to high dollar customers. One more of the valuable classics here now not anymore in Venezuela by this asshole. This guy got scouts around hunting valuable cars around the country to make money with then. There are couple more. One of them is trying to buy a 68 GTX 440 4 speeds ( needing FULL resto ) only one known in Venezuela what a friend of mine has.

Original owner of this Charger was the same of the original owner of the green 69 Hemi 4 speeds who was exported to Peru maybe 10 years ago ( but not by the original owner). They were a bank owners family.

Sure I mentioned about this one when the green 69 Hemi 4 speed going to Peru was talked on the board, BUT was by those days still somehow a myth and somebody told be was a twin to the 69 except for the tranny, but not, is a 68.

To be an unrestored barn find I'm wondering about the bumblebee stripes...  maybe delete option? Shouldn't get the R/T emblems then on quarters instead? Or is that just 69/70 ?

In 68, if you deleted the stripe, there were on quarter emblems, that was a 69 (only) thing.

The valve covers are wrinkle black. Where the paint has come off, there's rust.

$132,000.00

That's just too much for something that needs a complete restoration.

alfaitalia

I don't think that will get a restoration....if it really is all original and has no significant rust then its values lies in the fact that that it HASNT been restored. Give it a wash and a light preservation and just drive it!...although I might have to draw the line at leaving those hideous wheel trims in place....never liked them....Id box them up until I sold it!!!
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

What is with the KPH speedo? Never seen that before.

JB400

I means it was exported to a metric system based country

Which is pretty much anywhere except us and you!

The 4 speed one you had was a much better deal, and a much nicer car.

correct. The car was ordered for export to Venezuela... and at the next year the same family bought on the same way a Green 69 Hemi 4 speeds heater delete option. Sold around 8-10 years ago to a guy in Peru

I'm agree on the job it needs. I wouldn't say it needs a full resto, But of course I will get a new nice finish. Can't say I would keep it like that. Doesn't seem to need a great body job but just some dents, some detailing on grill, MAYBE new vinyl top, full set of new window weatherstrips ( they must be dried ), new Radio trim and it seems new radio, new windshield wiper bottle, some finish refresh on engine and voila. IF THE PICS DON'T LIE  ( and odometer ) I'd say doesn't need more than 5-7K on it in USA. If making the body and paint job in Venezuela, maybe no more than $5K

No one knows how this car runs and how road worthy it is. Just ask the guy who bought the barn find Superbird last year in the wing car section. Tens of thousands can easily be spent on the engine, transmission, suspension, fuel & cooling systems, interior, tires, brakes, etc just to get it road worthy.

Aero426

The new owner has paid for the intertesting story of the car, and that's all good.

Given the way it looks at screen resolution,  it will be worse in person.   It's arguably past the point of a preservation car.      One you start, where do you stop?
