I check chargers on Ebay , at least twice a day , if I can , never saw this one on there , at the time , only found it  looking up sold history , trying to find finnegans  dirt track charger from the other thread JR started . proves all good ones are sold , straight away  :-\ :P :yesnod:  maybe  :scratchchin:

R6 with black top & interior , awesome color  combo :drool5: :coolgleamA: :yesnod:

cant see V21 on fender tag ! think it looks like it has the factory applied style of hood performance paint , although the end of the black  on  the cowl up by the A pillar / windshield post , look a little wide  :shruggy:  ... ,  ( dealer applied ?? owner added ?? )  , shame no build sheet picture  :scratchchin:

JB400

Good project to start with.  Hope it goes to a good home

Holeeeee crap! $42,000 and it needs rust repair ??? :eek2:

6bblgt

 :eek2: buy-it-now lasted less than 3 hours 15 minutes

looks familiar, doesn't someone on here have a similar R6 "survivor"?

69 OUR/TEA

It's a nice looking color combo , but not survivor enough , IMO , to leave as is . Car needs to be restored . $42k , strong money .  :Twocents:

Just 6T9 CHGR

Sweet ride in R6.   V21 does look a little off in the cowl area but it looks to have been applied a long time ago....thats how they normally fade over time when done back in the day. Strong money though.

Also it looks to have a special VON....723xxx  Company Car possibly??

Nice car. Is $42k the benchmark for a car in need of some serious patch panels?  :popcrn:

I dunno about a "benchmark" ?
but yeah....
I guess $42K is what someone is willing to Pay in this case for a 1969 R/T SE requiring work ?

IMO, beautiful/stunning combination !
Only wimps wear Bowties !

looks like a real nice unmolested example. :yesnod:

Rust molested it a bit, no?  :Twocents:

I thought the same thing...But in a rare case only equalled by a Solar Eclipse, I kept my snide comments to myself. Now that the door is open...
Rust, yes....aside from that gaping hole in your head Mr Abraham Lincoln, you look nice tonight. Oh.. The Titanic is a great looking ship, aside from the fact that it split in two after the iceberg incident!
If a person didn't look below the door handles, they may never notice the rust.

If I'm reading the fender tag correctly, the A03 represents Oct. 3, 1968, and the V21 wasn't available until February of 1969.

Ghoste

You are reading correct but the V21 was applied later in this case.  That is to say, there is no V21 code on the tag.

i saw a build sheet picture seller sent me it had V21 on the broadcast sheet

I hope the buyer will be happy with what he gets. I noticed there is the beginning of rust around the rear window and there are no pics of the front window sheet metal nor anything underneath.  If there is only rust in the rear quarters and only surface rust here and there then maybe it will turn out OK.  Looks like it was bought with no inspection or additional questions and that's risky with these old cars (I know from experience.)

Still going to need considerable work to do it justice.  It looks really nice even with the flaws and would be beautiful if fully restored.

I would want to see that broadcast sheet before expressing an opinion, but something is off.

For '69 Chargers, notification of the availability of Sales Code V21 was sent to the St. Louis and Hamtramck assembly plants on December 6, 1968, along with the note "Effective Date to be determined".  Chris/Just 6T9 CHGR has pointed out in in this reply that a Bulletin was sent out on January 3, 1969 notifying dealers of its availability.

Regardless of all that, an Oct. 3rd SPD was likely at least 2 months too early for V21.

the fact that it is a "company car" & a great color combo may indicate that it was a test case for the V21 hood treatment  :2thumbs:

socalcharger

what does it mean when its a company car? apparantly this car also had cruise control never seen one on a charger before, seemed like a fairly loaded charger as far as options on the car? 6 way seat too?

69 OUR/TEA

Wow,  after looking at this again , just realized the build is not far from my car , mine is A02 , day before  . Very similar in the options as well , mine does not have cruise , mine has disc brakes and N85 , buddy seat instead of console . Both this car and mine have headrest also , which is not on the fender tag , and was another option until Jan 1st when they became standard .Seems like most R/T SE's were loaded cars .

I think you are correct on that build date vs when they came out, but seems really weird how close it looks for as old as it is painted on there.  We have all seen lots of stripes done in later years.  I have not personally seen that may that go back to being fairly close to original with the odd way it stops between stripes and the way it curves around the cowl.  Maybe the owner order if loaded and then received car after others with V21 landed on the lot and the new owner had the dealer install it.  A stretch, but would not be the first time a guy (or gal) got a 392 car only to have months later a hellcat came out or sometime later a demon came out...  Always some new gimmick and new options to lure us in...
