Dana 60 rear end gears

Does anyone make any different gears for a Dana 60 rear end besides the 353 or the 411?  Looking to go down to a 272 or something close.

Most sources say that Dana 60s never went below a 3.31 ratio, and Summit only shows a 3.54 as available.

You have to switch to a 8.75 axle to have a 2.76 available.

I believe the 3.07 and 3.31 ratios for the Dana 60 were installed in special housings with a different offset than the standard Dana 60.

The lowest gear set available for the Dana 60 is 3.33 (50/15 teeth). This gear set came only in 79/80 to 82 Ford trucks.

The 3.07 and 3.31 gear set are Dana 61 gear sets. They do NOT interchange with Dana 60 gear sets. Yes, it is possible to machine the Dana 61 gear sets to fit in the Dana 60 housing but this is not easily done (see thread on yellowbullet for more information).

I have a Moser 60 rear end assembly. Is it possible to install a 3.33 in that setup?

This is proof of the ratio but not that it's a Dana 60.

Look up the axle code 25 (open diff) or B5 (limited slip) for 81-83 Ford trucks - these came with the 3.33 ratio and a Dana 60. Dana 61 codes are different (e.g. 32 or 33)

Dana 60s gearsets don't go very tall (low #) because they are really truck axles.  Trucks have taller tires and do grunt-work duties so they inherently need much lower gearsets than passenger cars.

Chrysler only ever put D60s in cars to avoid paying out warranty claims when people abused their stick-shifted R/Ts.  People would break the rearends with drag slicks and then bring it back to the dealership with the stock tires on again.  "I was just cruising on the freeway and then it started making this noise."
