Is there a trick to installing a new neutral safety switch in the 904 transmission? I have had 2 start leaking around the pins and no continuity between the outside pins for the backup lights. Am I missing something?
Thanks, Willy

jack up the car high enough to save from oil leak when removing the NSS. Get a pan preparied just in case some oil comes out

after checking in my parts book I have a 727A transmission. but my question is about the leakage around the pins and no continuity for the backup lights.

Where is it leaking, from around the threads or around the pins?

If around the threads, use plumbers tape.

A few years back I bought a new 727 from Cope Racing.  It came with a nice new NSS that leaked.  I called John Cope about it.  He said that he was starting to get the same complaint from other customers.  It seems that he had gotten a batch of bad ones.  I just installed my old one and the problem was gone......

Just went through this at the end of last summer with my 73. There is a batch of bad ones out there. You just have to keep trying until you get one that doesn't leak.

that is good to know I thought there was some trick to putting them in.

Late in the game posting this - same thing happened to me. All repro switches leaked on mine til'I bought a NOS switch... hasn't leaked since & that was 3 years ago. Crazy...

I had a new one leak pretty badly on me, but it was actually leaking around the O ring seal. The new one had a metal collar that was between the O ring and the actual switch so there was not an actual rubber seat against the switch.

I just fixed this on my Charger . Avoid all but BWD. BWD NSS was the one that fixed it for me, the rest leak.
