Internet Dating?

OK. So I took a trip to the river this weekend with some friends. We were all talking about the usual stuff that 18-22 year-olds talk about. And the conversation moved to how the internet is almost the normal way to meet people today. With sites like myspace... so tonight I have a date with a girl I have never meet in person... it's kind of weird. I don't even know what her voice sounds like...

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a date from the internet? How has it worked if you have?

Yeah, I admit I did it. They were all 'hook ups' if you know what I mean. Go out, meet at a restaurant or club, neither one of you are what the other expected, you have a few drinks, top the night off with a little something, and thats it. Though the last girl I met online and I did have a little thing for a while. We dated, then after a few months moved in together for a year and a half. That was my last time doing it. I am sure others had good luck. It just isn't for me.

I hate to admit it but both couples were perfectly matched. So it works well for some people.

The part that sucks most about this is i'm driving my Toyota... and my other cars are parked at my dads house... mornaly when i'm nervous about a date I spend my energy polishing up the car... but you can't polish a turd... and my $80 investment in lower fuel bills just doesn't work.

internet dating and blind dating are the same in my opinion, i've explored both although i've never went on an internet date(almost).  I had an experience one time after i broke up with my ex GF and my friends tried to hook me up with a supposed hottie, and then again just last week my buddies daughter tried to hook me up with this lady at red robin(restaurant) and i said no thanks immediately, i mean come on, there has got to be at least some sort of physical attraction, and i know i'm not crazy on this one.  well let's just say, woman's taste are different than men's sometimes, i'm sure she was a nice lady, with her 6 tats ands bags under her eyes like she just went on an all week bender. call me shallow but i'm almost 40 and i'm looking for an arm trophy cause why, well i drive a charger of course.  I have a feeling that my new bud jim shine and me are gonna have no troubles picking up girls i'd say around june 25th at oxford plains speedway .  at least this way we get to see them first and we are under no pressure, that is what i don't like, the pressure that is put on both the girl and the guy.  Dating just ain't for me and i'm too busy anyway, i gotta see/meet someone through being at a friends house or whatever and then really get to know the person, but my first thought is come on every guy knows this one.... would I(you finish the sentence).  I'm not saying every guy in the world is like this but majority are, most just won't admit it.  
Well i'm admitting it, i want a hottie.  I'm still waiting for Kathy Ireland to call me. she's getting kind of old now, i'll take jessica simpson any day and shakira, marisa tomei.......
You just don't know but i can tell you this go in there confident expecting nothing and just have a good time regardless, whatta you got to lose.  Could be the one! just not for me.

I guess i'm just more in to my cars and they all know where i live.

Oh yeah i forgot the best part of that red robin night. the whole time my 20yo waitress was telling me i was shallow and she hated the fact that i told the truth, within an hour about 6-7 waitstaff(all girls of course) were hangin out the table, 2 even sat down to chat for a while, they were there til we left (about 2 hours), they would rotate to their tables and then come right back over, it was hillarious. shallow, right, i got their number, ok i didn't get their number but you get my drift.

Jim i'll bring 2 uniforms for both of us(i need help), just start talking all that car knowledge and throw in some guitar stuff and hook me up. LOL. just kiddin we'll have a blast.

I went on SO many I finally had to stop going out to dinner and meet them at Starbuck's.. If we hit it off, we went to dinner or whatever.... It's a neutral place.. I met my wife that way.....

I've had a lot of bad experiences with internet dating myself. I don't think I would go for it anymore but, to meet girls as friends then I might be cool with it. Who knows I'm not the type to quit easy exactly or at least IMO. Anyways, at least I met some cool guys on the board here like Manny, Russ, and Nic. Now, if I could only meet a nice woman perhaps hmmmm...  Nah, anyways internet dating is a hit and miss. It works for some and for others like me and Tom well... it doesn't work so great or at least so far. Anyways, just my piece of the cake for this thread.
