73 Charger - Rear Lamp Bulb Holders - Question

Hello Folks!

Unfortunately I could figure out that some of my bulb holders broke off the plastic part (Shown in pic, sorry do not know the correct english word) and now I could find out that this plastic is almost impossible to find or to pay...

So has someone else ever faced this Problem and fixed it on his own by installing new bulb holders by cutting out the original holders or something like that?

Suggestions please!

Unfortunately the only options are a new/used lamp assembly or to get some aftermarket sockets and silicone/RTV seal them in place. These sockets were never meant to be removed and at the time if they went bad you simply replaced the entire assembly. Yeah, goofy, I know.
You'll have to basically break those out and replace with something like these.

I was already assuming to go down this road .... 

I think I have some bulb sockets left from my time when I was restoring pinball machines... I am pretty sure to find some useful Things which will help to solve the puzzle.

I have the same problem on my 71 Superbee. I have managed to find a bulb holder locally and will seal it in

Another question would be concerning the back up light bulb holder....

In the Service Manual it is mentioned that the light bulb style for the tail-, stop- and turnlight is 1157 (2-prong) but the backup light is 1156 (1-prong).

Was not able to check this so far. So can some of you guys confirm that the back up light bulb holder is really 1-prong. I would have assumed it is 2-prong as the other lights in the rear light assembly...

Last question to this Topic: If I choose the path upgrading the incandescent bulbs with LED's will I Need a LED relay for proper function?

If yes, is it possible to connect the relay "in between" or do I Need to do some welding etc?

I could be wrong but I believe that is the headlamp buzzer. The flasher is usually round but NOT always.
I believe the flasher is attached or at least hanging on the side of the ash tray. It is either that or near the steering column. I always for get which is the emergency flasher and which is turn signal.

That's the turning lights flasher.

Hazzard flasher is located around brake pedal switch, and uses to be squared/rectangular ( factory were like that ) or round with a green band labeling as a heavy duty unit for the 6 bulbs load. On the pic posted is the one sitting close to the bulkhead connector on floor

About tail light sockets. They are get 3 wires since the plastic housing on tail lights requires a ground wire added. Generic replacements are at this moment just 2 wires, for the positive bulb contacts, being brake/blinkers and positioning functions. A 3rd wire will need to be solded to the case to be able to get the ground sourced

I want to upgrade the whole section (all taillights and front turn- / parkinglights) with LED's.

Meanwhile I found out that I need to install a relay, ok so far, but the question is, will ONE relay work properly? I mean I read in several other posts/internet pages that people said taillights were working fine with LED but as soon as front turn-/parksignals have been also upgraded to LED it was not working correctly anymore (blinking was incorrect)....

Stock flashers work with the bulb loads caused by the filament heat as a short. I don't think a relay will make it work since relays doesn't add load. Led bulbs requires an specific flasher for the function, available around.

Yeah I know.

Thats why its necessary to replace the standard flasher relay with a LED flasher relay....

I have seen around the web that some guys report NOT having issues at all as others stated taillights to be working but ONLY when front turn-/parking lights not connected.....
