I read somewhere that front frame rails should never be patched since they are structural members. The work done here looks fine and certainly much better than driving the car with the way the rails were before the repair.   :2thumbs:
There are people in every industry that blab about rules and regulations as if there is no wiggle room at all. Construction is full of Safety monitors that are so over the top, they get 3 hours of work done in an 8 hour period.
If the Pioneers listened to the naysayers, nobody would have ever ventured West of the original 13 colonies.

We patch racecar frame rails all the time and they see way more stress than a street car. If u gusset or double wall it then its stronger than it ever was

I agree. I saw this video last night while looking at other videos. Nice work.

comparing cars from the 60's and 70's to today, There is no comparison as far as structural construction. There was no where near the engineering put into the frame work of the older cars that there is today. Could u do something like that on a car anywhere from late 90's forward?  Not a chance .  I work for a body shop and the amount of stress put on proper structural repair right now is INSANE.

An example was shown to us during a training program, a Honda Fit had the roof skin replaced due to hail damage.  The shop replaced the skin and panel bonded the new skin into place, which in their mind was actually better than the spot welds from the factory ( and faster repair ) . But what they didn't realize, is that by gluing the entire roof skin on , it completely changed the structural integrity of the vehicle .  The car later got in an accident , and crashed into a lake trapping the people inside. It was later proven that because the glue roof skin did not allow the vehicle to crumple as it was designed to . Body shop and repair tech were sued for millions.  This is an extreme example and one that , none of the body techs would have believed unless they were shown the crash test footage.

As for  this repair done in this post, I see nothing wrong with it at all.  Its by no means a hack job and appears to be very well done.  If were to go by repair process from the time period, it is honestly probably better !!
Pop rivets and tar were common repair procedure back in the day! !!

i'm running in the same issue with seat repairs as the cars now coming out with side impact airbags in the seats and the seat has to be sewn with special thread etc so the airbag can deploy .which means standard thread don't cut it anymore
