1969 Charger R/T 440/auto (waiting to be restored)

Yes, I know I have too many cars. My wife reminds me daily.

45k plus and they can't buy a decent set of wheels/tires to help sell the car?

I was just thinking a new set of shoes would really help this car  :yesnod:
There are few problems in life that cannot be solved with C-4.

That car was on craigslist a few months back. Either, the guy is still trying to sell or its getting turned back out

must be the same seller - with the odd choice of pics & the "triple green paint/interior/top" comment with pics showing black interior and top, confirmed by the fender tag

1968 Charger manual transmission numbers that GG published are incorrect
total 3-speed manual (225 & 318) are around 2,307 (GG shows 0 built)
total 4-speed manual (383 2bbl, 383 4bbl,  440HP, HEMI) are around 6,920 (GG shows 3,287 built)

the XP numbers are wrong, possibly the XS also, the numbers don't add up  :eek2:

I love these cars but prices like these are crazy! The car is not bad but for this kind of money I'd expect an R/T 440/727, not a 383 car. Nothing at all wrong with a 383 car but for this money, it should be in better condition.

bakerhillpins

Funny, all those pics and not a single one showing the engine.  :shruggy:

It's only original once. There is a premium on originality these days.

It was on Craigslist for $35,000.  When I called, people were offering more money, and someone gave him that 259 built number, but a week later, nobody came through with the cash, but he thinks it's worth more than a fortune now.

Yes, I would agree there are those that will pay a premium for originality, but that premium is also tied to the rarity of the particular Car I think ?
In this case,
* there would surely seem to be far more XP 383 4 Spd cars out there than the claimed "259" that gets spewed
* 3X Green examples also seem quite common.
and,
it appears to my old eyes anyway, like the passenger rear quarter panel has been repainted compared to the pass Door ? maybe both sides quarter panels ?
either way....
with a potential issue at least starting around the lower rear window ? the trunk floor may be be suspect as well ? and how long before those R/Window repairs need done further detracting from any premium.

IMO, $45K should be the "Buy it Now" price and if he gets it run like hell !    and with a reserve on bidding somewhere in the $30's

Those are BGGoodrich Belted TA, not Radial.  When were those last made?  Personally, if it's an untouched car, leave it untouched if you're going to sell it.  Most people ruin a good car "improving" it for a quick sale.

Two days to go and zero bids. Perhaps the market is speaking.  ;D

Not a big deal, but when I see "everything is original except for the wheels and tires" that is what I expect. In this case it should still have the dual point distributor. The other pieces are add-ons, so no harm there I guess.

Dual point distributor in a 383 4-speed ??  Points ignition setup, yes. Not electronic ignition, as shown. And not dual-point.

You are correct!

I thought (wrongly) that the 383 4spd used the dual point like the 440 4spd did. I should have checked before typing.   :brickwall:  ;D

I was then curious about dual point usage from 68-70, so checked the other parts books.

Dual points came with;

1968; 340 auto and 4spd, 440 4spd, hemi auto and 4spd

1969; 340 4spd only, 383 auto and 4spd (in A bodies only), 440 4spd, hemi auto and 4spd

1970; 340 4bbl 4spd only, 340 3x2bbl auto and 4spd, 440 3x2bbl auto and 4spd, hemi auto and 4spd.

So, for '69 they dropped the dual point on 340 auto and added to 383 in A bodies. Then for '70 it was dropped from 440 4bbl 4spd and only 440 3x2bbl had it.

Interesting.

Glad you caught my mistake.

Only 1 day left on auction and still no bids so it does appear to be overpriced for the current market (as many here said).

Wow, I didn't realize that all of those came with dual-point distributors! I learned something, too.
