Alternator & starter restoration-recommendation

We rarely hear about good work on here from 3rd parties, so I wanted to post a recommendation.

I sent the original alternator and starter off of my Superbird (see aero car thread) to Jim Ridge at Dixie Restorations. The car had not been started in 43 years and had a broken bolt in the alternator adjustment hole. The starter was rusted beyond belief and the alternator looked like it had been left out in the elements for years. I got them back today and WOW. They look excellent and original, and they work great-just like new.
Thanks Jim & Dixie Restorations

Thanks for the insight. It's good to know that they are some reliable folks still out there. I've dealt with Dixie Restorations before in buying parts from them. Good prices and fast shipping. Also I was on their list for the fuel sending units with a minimal deposit for commitment. Great communication and keeping you informed during the process. They actually reach out to you w/o you having to send them a message first.

I found a date code alternator and starter for my 68 Charger and are both going to be restored by Dixie. The details that they put into the restoration look incredible.  :2thumbs:

Does Dixie do the power window motors from that era as well?

Sorry, not at this time. I think a local electrical shop should be able to rebuild it.

While we are at it, let me add a couple of more:

Wiper motors-we have used with great results Bill Meerholz for several wiper motors on Chargers, Cuda and Birds-the tops. http://www.bmcuda.com/
We have not had luck with a different vendor and now only use Bill.

Radio-Always have used Ward's classic car radios in Alabama http://wardsclassiccarradiorepair.com/ for restoration and for 1 conversion to Am/FM, again with best results multiple times.

Heater box: Rich at http://www.theheaterboxguy.com/ did an excellent job on the rusted out hulk I sent him!
