So, I'm about 45 minutes away from these yahoos (yay-ho-s) but I didn't go watch the execution of the 69/440/4.  I figured if I left my 68 unattended they would try and jump it.  I figured if I drove my regular car, a BMW, they would attack it.  Yes, people just love to attack my BMW.  Yes, Michigan, a 'liberal' state, is full of every stereotypical 'redneck' you can imagine.  They've kicked my car, they've keyed it, they've opened their door on it with wild aggression, for some reason it makes 'rednecks' mad.

What perplexes me, what these evolutionary cul-de-secs don't get, is that they're ruining - forever - something approaching artwork - an endangered species.  Chrysler was the smallest of the big 3.  How may '65 Mustangs did Ford build?  Huh?  650,000!  How many '68 Chargers  were built?  <100,000!  How many '68 R/Ts?  17,000!  How many 2nd gen cars do you think exist today in any form, crap or show?  A hundred, a thousand?

God forbid the 1st or 3rd gen Chargers, that I am fond of. Not being at the top of the list they'll suffer a worse fate.  I guess it's all about $$$.  Same reason we don't see a 'Jumping the HemiCuda' promotion?  Man, I hate these people.  How short-sighted can someone get?

As a side note, I hated it when they blew up the Camaro at the gas station in the Christine movie.  Weird for Hollywood, but the Charger survived!  Go figure...

So, there's good news and bad news.  As prices approach ridiculous-ness, it will be more and more unlikely that this sort of idiocy will continue.  Supply and demand.  Bad news, this idiocy will continue until it becomes financially unfeasible to do it.  I think we're at that point.  It's sad...it's very sad...the car I bought in '91 for $850 (which I thought absurd) would probably sell for $3-4000 today.

Some people are stupid - I would'nt  let them check my tire pressure.  It's very sad.

It is what it is.

The shop owner bought the car in a free & democratic Ebay auction several months ago.
He decided to have it jumped, he didn't charge the crowd any admission, he'll probably lose money on the whole thing . . . and he probably won't mind a bit.

Good luck stopping a jump like this.
