Fuel Pipe in the Trunk Question

First off, if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it, I could not find a "fuel" section

My question is this: Has anyone come up with a better idea to eliminate that long diagonal fuel pipe in the trunk?? It takes up a lot of needed trunk space, and even more so in a Daytona trying to arrange stuff for a long trip across the US States.

My thought was to make the pipe go across the floor and then turn up at where the bumper jack is and continue to the fuel filler inlet. Then I thought of covering the pipe across the floor with some U-channel to protect it and the rubber connector from damage.

So basically I was thinking this, cut the OE pipe coming out of the trunk floor just enough to clamp a fuel safe rubber hose, make another pipe to clamp on that hose and go across the floor and up to fuel fill neck. Make a U-channel to cover all of this modification.....

Or am I making more of a mess & headache than this is actually worth?

You could do it. Filler hose isn't cheap, though. I had to buy 2 lengths to make a filler for my service rig.

Looking for a CD by  'The Sub-Mersians'  entitled "Raw Love Songs From My Garage To Your Bedroom"

Also, any of the various surf-revival compilation albums this band has contributed to.

Funny that this came up.....was only thinking the same the other day! My fuel tank inlet is going to be moved more to the left and down to enable ot to go through the rail and pretty much (but not quite looking at the measurements) straight up to the filler.

put a Road Runner tank in it.

This was my thought. Put a B body tank in it and make the plate pivot like factory. Keep the Charger filler cap for looks and with the trunk lid closed nobody will be the wiser

Now there's an idea....what year RR tank? Will it fit right in with no modifications except the opening under the bumper? Will it use the same sender?

I wouldn't do it on my own car , but you could make a block off from an old fill tube.

I have a locking gas filler cap in the OE fill pipe under the "FUEL" flip lid...it would stay there
