I am trying to order a trunk floor for my 1968 Dodge Charger. They offer early and late trunk floor pans. I didnt know their was a difference.

How do I know which one I need to replace the rusty trunk pan in my charger?

Lennard

I've never heard of an early and late trunk pan. Is that AMD?

Yes, there was 2 different models of trunk floor for the 68 Charger.
Good thread on early vs later built cars.

Hmmm...they didnt talk about trunk floors at all. Anybody know about the differences of trunk floors?

timmycharger

Is the difference just the extra brackets that hold the tail light assemblies to the tail panel? Not sure how that would require different tooling though  :scratchchin:

heres late on the left and early on the right, it just looks like some extra holes and some small indents on the bottom are different.

My 69 Charger was built first week of August 68 and it has the trunk pan on the right with the two small holes by the filler neck opening in the floor
One hole is for the the small hose on the side of the filler tube for the gas tank breather and the other just had a plastic plug in the hole
Would that not make all 68 this style if the picture is labeled correctly ?

Here are some differences I noticed from Baldwin's pic. (in yellow)

Like Troy said earlier, the fill pipe hole is different shape, which also means that the rubber grommet will be different also....

in the first bit of this video it shows a factory trunk pan in an early 68 (taillight brackets) and it seems to have the pan on the right.

My 69 Charger is built the first week of production in August 68 and had the early style trunk floor in it
So would that not make all 68 Chargers have the early style trunk floor ??

do you have any pictures of your original floor saved?

70 sublime

Only picture I have that shows something
I was just going to cut out the rotten part around filler neck hole but ended up just changing the hole floor
Wish I had of known there were two different floor styles available when I did it or I would have used the older style

This picture shows the two holes around the filler neck opening
The one at the top has the plug with the small hole in it for the breather tube to go down into the frame rail
