This reads as an original owner now finally selling.
Pretty neat, as it has to be getting to be a rare thing now.

Cool car. My first car had those same tires.

not one pic of the shifter.

There was one that looked just like it in Portland years ago, the owners must have lived near my sister because I saw it on a few visits over a few year time span.

Elderly couple, he always wore a suit & was driving when I saw them, but they were always together.

They must have been close to 70 years old back then.

A young at heart couple still enjoying their green '68 Charger, they were a delight to see.

Ad says triple green. I wonder when it was re-done :scratchchin:

Looks like green interior to me. Rear seat belts look green.

I thought the big block cars had radiators with the upper hose further to the passenger side.

6bblgt

the STANDARD 383/440 b-body radiator for 1968-'70 is 22" with the hose as shown (round tank '68-'69 & square tank '70)

when upgraded to A/C or an axle package, the included 26" radiator has the upper hose to the RH (passenger) side

Kern Dog

Thank you. I am trying to convert my 440 to A/C and a few things I've done need to be changed.

triple_green

from someone who owns a triple green 68. Until about 15 years ago the green vinyl roofs were not easily available, bet they replaced it before then. Also the interior looks black to me. Must have been converted over sometime. The rear seatbelts are definately green though. Interesting car, but for $35K there is a lot that need to be done to it to make it usable, but it is def all there.

Also notice that the unsilenced air cleaner on a 383-4 has no pie tin.

I called the guy the day the ad came out.  The owner died, so his estate is selling it.  They said they already had an offer for $40,000, and $44,000.  I had to talk myself into $35,000.  Is this what it's come to?

Right??? LOL Still a cool car and it's a one owner so that's got to be worth something. It has the tic toc tach which is cool to see on a 383 car but it does say it's a 4 speed too so that make's it more expensive too IMO. There are 4 speed cars out there but you really don't see that many out and about. When I went to dukefest in 06 there were over 100 chargers there and out of the 100 that were there only 4 were 4 speed's. Mine was one of the four and a friend of mine has a 383 4 speed charger that was there but he is a different breed and I offered to help him get it fixed and running a couple of different times but he doesn't want it to run I don't guess so it's been sitting for several years now. I actually rebuilt the carburetor for him and put it on a vehicle that I had sitting here just to make sure it worked out and it ran great. I set the float levels and the mixture screws and it ran great on the engine I ran it on and that was 4 or 5 years ago and the last time I talked to him the carb was sitting in the floor of his garage.

Says he's offered $44,000.  Would you pay $45,000?  I like the options.  4-speed, tach, hood blinkers, manual mirror, manual steering, manual drums, rear speaker.  Is that hood release factory?  I thought I saw a factory one once.  Was A/C available with 383-4V 4-speed?

That sounds confusing.  '69 rear speaker is under the dash, near ignition switch.  '68 is in the radio bezel.

yes, you could order 383 4bbl - 4-speed & A/C on a Charger (or any b-body) for 1968

Kern Dog

The 440-4 speed and Hemi (Any transmission) were the only combinations where A/C was not available.

Yep, that's the way it is. I like the 68 design better and my Charger will have it. Not original from the way it left the plant but I have the parts to have rear speaker w/fader.

Nobody came through with money, but someone told him it's one of 259, so now he wants $50,000 even though nobody came through with the other offers they gave him.  There's one on eBay, 383-4V 4-speed, not in as good of condition, but still original paint and drivetrain, that sold for $18,000.  I don't see how rarity matters if it's lower down on the totem pole.  Cool car in great condition, but $50,000?  Does this qualify for delusional seller yet?

6bblgt

the commonly quoted GG numbers for 1968 Charger 383 2bbl & 383 4bbl with a 4-speed (ALL Chargers "XP29" with manual transmission - /6 3-spd & 318 3-spd also) are not accurate

1968 Charger 96,108 (7.2% were 4-speed manual transmission) ~ 6,920 4-speed (HEMI, 440, 383 4bbl & 383 2bbl combined)
1968 Charger 96,108 (2.4% were 3-speed manual transmission) ~ 2,306 3-speed (318 & 225 combined)

Just food for thought.  $50,000 for a 68 Charger that needs work (kinda scary around the base of the rear window) or $53-55,000 for a 1 year old Hellcat... Take from somebody who has had 5 Hemi Chargers over the years and just sold a completely original Hemi 4 speed Charger 500 and bought a 2016 Hellcat with a 6 speed manual trans.   Buy the Hellcat and scare the crap out of yourself on the drive home and buy a really cheap 68 Charger to putter around with.
Anyone that tells you their 68 Charger runs better and they drive it everyday is full of poop....

Supposedly garage kept and all original.  Are you concerned about a relatively minor repair at the rear window destroying the survivor status, and a waste of paying a premium for?  I drive my '69 R/T every day.  New cars have no appeal to me.  Nothing scares me but the price.  I'm just tired of the guys making fun of me for driving a girl's car (automatic).

I didn't say it runs better.  If you have to drive a car, what's the point of having one you like, but don't drive?

Hellcat is a great car.

Does a 68 Charger run better and will I drive it every day? Nope!  Still want it over a Hellcat however.

Fellow ex 500 guy, glad to see you are still hanging around here.  Wiser words are seldom stated.  I would perhaps argue that I am as much a 69 Charger dude as anyone in my head, but buying a hellcat Challenger three years ago was one of the best car decisions I have ever made.  A committed daily car guy I would say.  I will not be in a retirement home wishing I did, "back when I was young(er) they had hellcats and people were able to navigate them without it being a self driving car.  A standard, I should have known you would, but you got your hands full.  I chose auto and after 37,000 mile (really), just under 3 yrs as true daily driver and have successfully not wadding me and the car up. I am still quite happy about its merging capabilities...

Any case off topic, sorry.   Romantic that one owners are out there and the car is in many ways looks pretty nice.  Not sure what paint colors I am seeing on the passenger side going on.

We have seen turds sell in the low 20s and 40k for this optioned and condition car seems like a lot to me too.  A no sale again on this car is proving that.  I have put one of my cars out there a little, which in my opinion is in far nicer condition, holding factory original paint, fundamentally near zero rust and is a B5 nice color combo RT 4spd car at a price most would say should be on the thread above.  And I would agree, but my price is not that far from this guys asking number in grand scheme.   We can all fish and dream I guess.

Hasn't this green one been for sale off and on for about a year now?
