Englishtown Raceway Ends Racing, NHRA Summernationals Cancelled.

No real explanation for the shutdown at this time.  NHRA says there will be no rescheduling or re-locating the Summernationals.

The ridiculous curfiews took their toll.... no noise before 10am or after 5pm makes it hard to race.... then tbey got thrown big money at them to lease the space as a parking lot.

For any Jersey guys out there, there is Island Dragway, in Great Meadows, just outside of Hackettstown.  A much smaller venue, but a venue nonetheless.  Also the location where Don Garlits recorded the first 200mph quarter mile.  This place is about 20 minutes from where I live.

Its a bummer to see this happen.  Went their for years, but their swap meets stunk. 

Hopefully the residents of old bridge don't mind the increase of street racing

It just goes on and on and on. Lost another 1/4 mile asphalt oval here last month to the developers

There's Atco Raceway in Atco, NJ & Lebanon Valley Raceway near Albany in NY.

Great name for a dragstrip Englishtown!
Same happened here this year for us limeys!
Shakespeare County Raceway closes after 40 years of drag racing...

That leaves us just ONE track left, the aptly named Santa Pod!!!
Ideal for Christmas drag racing in the snow lol...

I race at atco. Its a nice track and run very well, but nowhere near the size of etown. They could never fit a national event in there. Divisional races have rigs lined up outside the gates for pit areas.
