I'm attaching the grounds in the engine compartment. I have the grounding strap from the engine to the cowl attached correctly. Where does the ground from the negative battery terminal to the body attach? My FSM shows there's a ground but I can't see where there's a screw to attach it to the radiator support. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

E5 Charger

It bolts to the front of the cylinder head. I don't have a great photo, but follow the red arrow.

Thanks. That's where the one end of the negative cable attaches to the block. The other end that attaches to the battery has a smaller 10 gauge wire on also. I'm attaching a photo of the negative cable and one of the FSM drawing showing two grounds off of the battery. One engine ground and one body ground. On other cars I've had, the smaller wire attached on the front of the radiator support. Does the Charger not use one?  Thanks.

Here's a shot from the rad support area (see red arrow). That's where the smaller negative ground cable goes to. There should be a small threaded block to receive the bolt.

EDIT: The light forward harness ground wire also uses this point for grounding.

as pictured, big wire attachs driver side head provission on SB, small wire to radiator core support an all blocks and all years, same provision to headlight harness.

then also gets a ground strap between passenger side head provision and firewall.

those are all the "grounds"

BB A/C cars gets the big gauge wire to A/C compressor side provision instead the head because these use the head provision to a compressor bracket. BB heads doesn't have a "front" provision but on top instead ( intake face )

this is my engine bay ( old pic )... firewall ground strap is visible there just above the Evaporator outlets support. Look closelly to the side of the compressor and follow the bat wire up there. ( you'll find a the thin wire is green on mine, thats because I made the cable and that's what I got handy for me on those years )

Actually is not year specific because all years are the practically the same.

Non A/C cars with BB attaches either to an intake bolt or the head provision depending on year. Some years got the throttle spring bracket "leg" attached to that provision to keep it in place

on this pic, the orange painted wire ( they were attached before paint the engine, so it got the paint overspray from factory )

Thank you. The description and photos were a big help. It's a small block. Again thanks.

My 73 has as stated, a ground to the block from the negative. That also has a wire off the terminal to the radiator core. Then there is one to the firewall from the block. That one more of a braided wire than black solid. Zoom in on frony & back and you can see.

Thanks to all. ODZKing, Mine also had a braided strap from back of engine to the cowl (firewall). Mine was in bad shape but I found one at NAPA that looked like the original and was the correct length. NAPA part # 711699 "Bonding strap 10 GA. - 16" long". Thanks again.
