Anyone know where this plug goes or what it’s for?

This plug is hanging under the dash in front of gas pedal. Any idea where it goes?

It's power feed for interior lights. Heat/AC panel lights, ash tray light , etc. it will power up when parking lights are on.

If wire is yellow ( hard to tell for the flash ) actually is door switch ground provision... to turn on anything door ground related, like Map light, Ign key courtesy light...

If orange, as mentioned is cluster dimmer wheel light source, Heater-A/C knobs lighting, ashtray light... ( usually this mold is orange like the wire )

It's orange and it totally makes sense it's the dashlight source. Yesterday I had dash lights and today I don't. Where does it plug into? Thanks guys I appreciate it!!

It's not for the dash lights specifically. It's an aux power source for ash tray light, etc. I would check fuse first for cluster lights and if good, check dimmer switch.

But it comes from the dash light sytem, sourced by the dimmer wheel

Ok. Well I was thinking about that. My car does not have a map light or glove box light. Not sure about the ash tray light? I am just putting my car back together and have not been in it awhile. I looked at the fuse and it looked ok, but will check it with a meter.

Glove box light and map light get a straight batt source ( pink wires ) as positive source, not the dimmer source. As mentioned, if wire is orange its for AC-Heater control knobs lighting and ashtray light... thats all. I can't recall any other source needing that signal aside shifter on console and radio faceplate BUT they are sourced from their own plugs.

Map light also gets a door jam ground wire to turn it on ( yellow wire network ) when doors are opened just like the dome light. Glove box is grounded via chassis. Glove box light socket it at the same time its own switch via chassis ground

Accessories plug into it if they were specified. If no accessories, it is just as you found it, empty.

Like an outlet in your house, only plugged into when needed.

Isn't the radio feeded on its own plug getting acc and faceplate light sources ? is like that on 3rd gens!

Don't you have the lights for the Heater-A/C buttons ? or they are feeded by an existant wire on harness like the Radio gets ?

can't tell if plugs to that mold being you say is around accelerator pedal ( control panel wire seems to be short ), but you should get that wire plugged somewhere around.

althought the rubber 3 cavities mold maybe is able to reach around radio/speaker area...

The plug is directly under the radio, but inline with the accelerator pedal. The orange color of the wire in the plug is the same as what you posted.  I guess I am going to have to remove the heat/ac controls and tape something somewhat rigid on the orange wire and fish it down towards the plug.
