Last 71 hemi cuda vert found

There is a nice article on the final, previously unaccounted 71 hemicuda vert in this months Mopar Action.  Does it seem odd to anybody else that all seven have been found?   I would have guessed that the last one would never be located after all this time.

I find it strange how so many Hemi and  6 Pak cars seem to have survived.You would think after all the years of abuse,accidents , and rust( not to mention all the big energy crisises we have had) would have had more effect on the numbers.

if it is the white one, then I believe the car was in Kansas when it was found   We tend to hide everything.

I believe this 100%.  I know a guy who ran a non-registered salvage yard.  He crushed a HEMI GTX,,, why no motor or tranny.  30 years ago they were not worth much.....

I still say a lot of these amazingly pop up with the current B-J prices.  Someone may have gotten good with some stamps....  Sorry just hard for me to believe that all of a sudden Here they all are.

I call a RE-BODY but I might be wrong.

My first thought when I read this thread title was "rebody" too. Without someone who really knows their stuff to look at it, it's hard to prove.
I'm still waiting for the same VIN to pop up on two different cars one of these days. You know it's gonna happen...it's only a matter of when.

Yep, I agree with all 7 of those cars surviving...what are the odds? Seems fishy! 

But on the other hand those cars were the most expensive ones you could buy and usually people
who purchased them did not treat them like the low buck stripped down roadrunners...thats not a knock against
runners cause I own one and wouldnt change a thing.

I have a pic of Bill's garage when my brother went out there to do some work for him and his freind Barry.  Not sure of Barry's last name right now but he has a bunch of Hemi cuda's a challengers.  Barry ownes some wendy's stores and has a home in AZ and here in Ohio.

Small update: I just talked to my brother and he told me that Bill had the car repainted and put back together in 2 weeks for the photo shoot in the magazine.

My bad.  I don't know where I got the number seven from.  I must be getting old.   I think somebody needs to write a book about the history of all eleven cars.  I'd buy it!

Those of us that are old enough to have been already been driving when these cars were built can understand why they still exist. When they were new, they spent most of the time either in the shop or in the garage at home.  Those cars would foul plugs if you pumped the accelerator one too many times. I remember very clearly that my buddies with the hemi cars always had an extra  set of plugs either in the glove box or the console. They took like 30 minutes to warm up, and that was in the summertime. They were fast as hell, but not a lot of fun to drive on long trips. A lot of hemis were removed back then and replaced with 440's and 383's.

It's been years now, but I know that many years ago Bill DRAKE from Rochester, New York owned one of them. He had quite the collection of Mopars years ago. Most of them Hemi's. All rare..

I don't believe for one second that all the Hemi Cuda ragtops exist. (At least originals anyway.) I spoke with someone 25 years ago when I was trying to buy some parts from him about a 1971 Hemi Cuda Ragtop. He was selling the parts & a car in Northern New Jersey when I had lived there. He needed the money to restore a total basket case Hemi Cuda ragtop he just got, & it was missing the drive train because it had been abused, street raced, & the motor blew.

Numbers matching? Yeah, sure.

Well I just found out a guy bought a 318 Barracuda to be AHHHHHeEMMM made into a HEMI cuda.  Seems a guy in the mid-southern states had a HEMI CUDA, (basket case)  So there is a 318 Barracuda now running the streets as a  "original HEMI cuda"      And I am sure it is not the only one.
