Same here. Get it back together and get it running. I have a new cam to test out along with 4 wheel discs with a hydrobooster (should be fun), and a myriad of electronic goodies to play with. Once everything is to my liking and I have had enough seat time, I'll take it back apart and install the 6 speed. This stuff will never end I tell ya.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I have an ever increasing stack of parts...would like to finally get some of them installed.  If things line up maybe build the stroker to boot.

Hey, Chris...good topic... :2thumbs:
I want to add a Classic Auto Air setup. The heater and A/C have been dead the whole time I've owned the car and it is long overdue.
Power windows....A guy  know that drives his 69 Coronet R/T almost everywhere has power windows and A/C. It makes an old comfortable.

1. Drive my 69 Charger survivor more often in 2018

2. Install an a518 and pair it to a 6.1L hemi for my beater 68 Charger project which i bought in 2017. i doubt very much it will run in 2018 though.

Get it all together.....check everything works.......then get it apart for paint buy the end of the year. Does not sound huge....but I seriously doubt it will happen without a lottery win and working about half the hours I do now! Would also like to see if I can somehow fit AC....NOTHING is standard on my car so will take some thinking about. Its not that hot here....might see 80f a few times a year....but its been a long time since I've owned a car without AC so might see if I can cobble something together from components of other old cars.....like the rest of my 69 really!!!

Finish the assembly process and start driving it.   Broke in the cam last week, so now it's just a matter of having enough time to finish it.

My goal is to get my '68 Charger nut and bolt restoration on the road by mid-year. Started the project in Feb. 2015, planning on a two year completion. Well, I overshot that. The body work is done and I plan on shooting the paint sometime in Jan./early Feb.
Engine, transmission, diff. and all components are rebuilt and ready to install. I've put in a lot of long, hard hours getting it to this point. Can hardly wait to get it on the road after 37 years!
(Sold the car in 1981, it sat in a garage for over 30 years. Tried to buy it back many times and the owner finally sold it back to me in Sept. 2014.)

A few frame rail reinforcements, intake swap, some tuning, and hopefully pick up 5 mph in the 1/4 and crack 130.

darbgnik

Install the Sniper EFI and tank I got for Christmas, in the spring when there is actually room to work on the lift in the garage. Finally get around to installing the disk brake kit I bought, Idunno, 7 years ago? Brakes are generally the first or only upgrade I do to any vehicles I own, but the crappy brake feeling somehow suits this old car enough that it's not really a priority, yet.......

I think I'm unlike most, in that I'm in no particular hurry to finish all the things I want to do to this car. It's mostly the reason I own it. Once it's all done, then what? I've got other cars to drive.

I really want to pick up a set of invincible extremes caliper mounts and install the late model 14 inch Mustang GT front rotors, and rear disc brakes with power assist. And a borgenson steering box as well.

Those are high priority. Secondary will be shedding weight where I can. Glass hood, QA1 subframe, etc.

Third will be more road trips. I hope to have more adventures and memories in my Charger this year. Maybe hot rod power tour, or a roadkill event.

Planning on doing some 69 seat covers this year, currently I have 68 seat covers and since the car is pretty much all converted I would like to do the seats too. The dash is still 68 but the pad is good and the vertical lines on the panels don't bother me so just some seat covers will do I guess. Was wanting to do a passon 5 speed but there seems to be a several year wait for that so that's out of the question I suppose. May send my steering wheel off and get it repaired since it has a few cracks in it. Also need to fix my fuel sending unit, it doesn't read right and bug's me but it doesn't keep me from riding so it's not high up on the list. Be glad when the weather gets better so I can get my weekend ride in on saturday's and sunday's.....

I really need new leaf springs, I'm going to have to do some research. I am also hoping to finally buy a set of Cragar SS rims.

Reliability and rear end suspension rebuild.

Determined that my starting issue was due to a faulty/failed positive battery cable. Purchased a new starter just in case so may put that in regardless.
Still trying to figure out the dam front brake performance issues.

Rear leaf springs are crap so want to replace those and would like to put 3.23s in the rear end. The rear springs are probably all I will get to back there this year.

Gas tank is also leaking when full and temps swing so need to look into that too.

finish the body job, engine fix and tranny upgrade, reassemble it and take it into a container up to Spain...

Once in Spain... get a Tuff Stuff alt, Bilstein RDC Shocks and... I can't recall whate else I still own to my car. ( I made a thread about that some months ago ). Maybe add rear spring sliders. But need to get a job in Euros to be able to pay for that, not anymore in Bolivares ( local currency ). Local currency is not enough even for food at this moment.

Challenger340

I am actually contemplating rebuilding the original 440 Magnum in the '69 R/T SE, still running well at 137,000 miles untouched since new.
WHY ?
because I can !
and probably better to do it while it's still in good shape, and at my age best done before I am too old to do it ! before the factory Nylon Timing Gear craps off, or anything else goes south.

Upside:
* there ain't NOBODY out there better than me at a 440 Mopar Engine (some just as good, but none "better"),
* I can then drive it as much as I want in future without worrying about upping the mileage.
* 450 hp and 530 Ft/Lbs is a piece of piss for me using the factory original parts, been there done this lots before.
* Document the entire engine rebuild, and also catalog for posterity EXACTLY what was inside an Original UN-touched 1969 440 Magnum. Things like Piston C.D.'s, actual Block deck heights, C.R., factory Cam events, Crank & Rod Sizings from the orange "magnum" HP Engine side assembly line(Yes, they were machined/parts selected differently than the non-hp brethren) etc., etc.
* I can detail the factory original engine bay paint etc., with the engine out.

Downside:
* probably shit-cans some collector value off the Car ?  I mean how many are still running around on their original UN-rebuilt, Un-touched factory 440 Magnums ? and still running well ?
* probably LOSE the factory original Exhaust System still intact on the Car ? I mean it's in "OK" shape, no leaks, etc., but makes no sense putting it back on. Again = Negative Collector Value because how many still running around on their factory original exhaust pipes these days ?
* No longer "factory original".... it would then be "rebuilt".

Any I've missed ?

Seriously, That would be some cool information and a very interesting thread to follow.  :2thumbs:

WRT your value points:
Seems like an arbitrary point in the sand about old vs rebuilt.  It's not running the factory oil or air filter. Or the factory shocks, belts, or fuses? And if you replace the rubber bushings or tires? or the seat cushions?  At some point those are wear items and they go. I'd much rather have the correct rebuilt block vs something sitting in glass bottle. Is it cool to have that stuff? I'd be lying if I said no, but I think that the dollar value you place on them might be more than it's actually worth, at least to the largest pool of buyers. But what do I know anyway?  :shruggy: :shruggy:

Save the original exhaust/pistons/rings/what have you. Put it all in a box, if you sell it and they want all that stuff back on, then more power to them.

I plan on continuing to pick away at the restoration. I'm just about done with the metal work on the shell, then I can put it up on the rotisserie and clean up the welds on the underside. Then I can strip and do any metal work on the doors, fenders, trunk lid and hood. Then everything can get sent out for acid dipping and E coat. In the meantime I will continue restoring the individual components like the grill, interior pieces, suspension, etc.

After over a year of neglect my goal is to get it on the road as much as possible. I'd like to get it out to some driving events this year as well. More autocrosses and I would like to even drag race it (the low profile tires won't help but I'd still like to see what it can do).

I've got a bunch of parts ready to go on it. Ported aluminum heads, power windows, projector led headlights, and a bunch of smaller items. But the one item I will be buying in the summer is an overdrive transmission. But I also bought 72 Duster to work on so that might steal some of the funds going towards the transmission.

I'll make a build thread on it one of these days on this site but as of now it doesn't look right. Needs polishing, new bumpers, and a total cleanup on it. But I do have new Corbeau seats, Dr diff 13" brakes, Coys wheels, some QA1 suspension goodies, and a ton of other parts to clean it up. It's a /6 at the moment and runs pretty decent but eventually I'd like to do a 392 hemi, 5 speed, and 4 link in the rear. But that's a while out.

Great idea for a thread, here's my list of 'probably:'

- complete rear disc brake upgrade
- 3" exhaust
- replace rockers, springs and lifters
- fix air cleaner/hood clearance issue
- minor cosmetic repairs (front grille, other broken ABS parts)
- clean up dash/fix tach

my list of 'maybe but probably not until the fall:'

- upgrade to modern front buckets
- engine bay/dash rewire
- alternator upgrade

my list if I hit the lottery:

- sequential fuel injection w/ Megasquirt
- RMS 4-link for the rear

Once in Spain... get a Tuff Stuff alt, Bilstein RDC Shocks and... I can't recall whate else I still own to my car. ( I made a thread about that some months ago ). Maybe add rear spring sliders. But need to get a job in Euros to be able to pay for that, not anymore in Bolivares ( local currency ). Local currency is not enough even for food at this moment.

You relocating to Spain Nacho?

Yeah I agree...looks amazing....cant be a lot of suspension up-travel at the front though....not before it hits the inner fenders at least!! And it will be slightly lower still with the weight of the body work on ! You don't want to have to have it really stiff to avoid contact.....nothing worse looking (or feeling) than, what we call here, the Ricer Hop !!!

It's on airbags. This is park level, i can choose ride height at anytime from inside the car  ;)
