Trying to find the Original Owner

My Uncle has been trying to track down the original owner of his Daytona with no luck. So I figured I would see if the aero section here would bear any fruit.

He purchased the car in 1971 from a gentleman in derby,KS. It was originally a Hemi Orange 440 4 speed car, last four of the VIN 6561. Let me know if you can help me out

IF it's the car I'm thinking about (386561), and IF I have the story connected to the right car...  In a 1/2009 Mecum listing there was a storyline about a V2 4-speed Super Track Pak Daytona being originally purchased by a school teacher in New York... which I never thought meshed well with 386561's Shipping List's initial destination information of Spencer Dodge in Wichita, KS.  The same story mentioned J. Cox as the owner who took on the restoration, which was partially done in KS but with Gibson detailing.

I could very easily have that story connected with the wrong car...  ??

The 6561 Daytona was originally a 4-speed car with a black stripe, it was changed in the '80's to a white stripe with an automatic. This car was purchased by Joel (not Jay) Cox of Elyria, OH and has not been sold since he bought it in '71.The original 4-speed was reinstalled about ten years ago. Apparently it was purchased from a mr. Lamaster in derby, KS back in 1971 however, my uncle does not have any way to contact the original owner. I was wondering if Mr. Lamaster still runs in the aero crowd or if anyone knows how to get ahold of him??? Long shot I know but I figured I would put it out there and see what happens.

I had that ad it was either in hemmings or back of hot rod magazine.I seen this daytona at the nats years back and seen the automatic set up and wondered why car had a 4 speed reverse light on dash

I just did the inflation online calculator and $2700 in 1971 is $16K in 2017 dollars. Still a screaming deal.
