How many 70;s were made with head rests? I am assuming that would be buckets in the pink car.  :scratchchin:

if you had buckets in 1970 the headrests are part of the seat anyway.

But the entry Charger (XH29) had a bench seat standart. The FM3 pink Charger in the ad is one of them.
You need to have a Charger 500 (XP29) or a RT (XS29) to have buckets standart in 1970.

I agree.  My bench seat has those headrests.  I'd love to have a spare headrest.

I was just under the assumption that all buckets were high backs in the 70. At the same time, "Mother Mopar" was known to use parts from the earlier version during start up being it was the same body style. The bench seat would make sense.

for the 1970 model year the Charger buckets are always high backs. That is what I meant with headrests being part of the seat.

If you had a C-body with buckets in 1970 they still had the x-tra attached headrests to the bucket seats.

Sublime/Sixpack

Many people seem to think that the '70 front bumper is really heavy. But the first time I actually lifted mine during it's restoration I was surprised to find they look heavier than they really are.

Personally not a big fan of the grille and the hood side scoops compared to the 68 (my fave) and the 69 (second fave). It's all relative, because I'd take a 70 Charger over almost any car all day.

Ponch - Just for clarification.  What do you mean by difference in the hood?  I know the hoods are subtly different, but am curious.

A 1970 Charger front bumper weighs only about 60 pounds. You '70 Charger haters are just jealous and making excuses for not owning one.

60Lbs. sounds high to me. But maybe you're including ALL the brackets and hardware, etc. (?)

I have a spare '70 Charger front bumper and out of curiosity decided to weigh it. The bumper weighs 23.6 Lbs. on my electronic scales.

I have a '68 and a '69. If I wanted a '70 I'd buy one... but  :eek2:

I think this statement is pretty much true for everyone. These aren't exactly exotics, anyone should be able to afford the year they prefer. I guess finding one in the condition you want might be a matter of timing, but still........

When talking about preferences, there is no wrong one, just yours.

Brain fart. Meant to say side scoops.

68 - 69 guys keep trying to bring up this topic.....go see a therapist for your low self esteem.

AMEN

Baldwinvette77

honestly if 70 front end parts were cheaper and easier to find at least one if not both my cars would probably have 70 front clips on them, the first charger i ever saw in person was a black 70 r/t rust bucket behind a transmission shop and it left a pretty good impression on me.

Hating on any 2nd gen Charger seems wrong.

pipeliner

I like all 2nd Gen Chargers but 68 and 69,s are my least favorite. I absolutely hate the Pontiac split grill on the 69,s and the corvette taillights  on the 68 are just horribly plain ugly and that motor color :eek2: . Those taxi cab seats in the 68-69 don't help either. With the 70 having the Pistol grip, six pack and high back bucket seats I'd consider the 68-69 the lesser of the three years.

Have you ever seen a F100 super sabre ?  BAD ASS

74Rallye

I have a couple of 74s and I still think the 70 is the best Charger ever made. It's also the only car in stock RT trim that I've been over 150 mph in.

alfaitalia

I think it might have needed a new speedo though !!... I thought the official top spec of a 70 440 RT was "only" 131mph.....unless it was a Hemi of course!...then it's a different story. But I'm happy to be corrected!
