hurst t handle

I've been looking for a old school hurst t handle in Ivory with the "4" pattern on it for awhile..

Can anyone explain this? Why are they so damn expensive when back in day it was a run of the mill aftermarket shift knob?
I was figuring like $60-$75 is fair.
Also, anybody here have an extra one to sell me?

Looking at the pictures, it's obvious that it was hand carved from an elephant tusk.
