i have access to (two different) running driving Dodge RV's both I believe are a 75-77 ish RV with 440 and 727. They are both running driving RV's. Are the RV 727's the same as our cars and will it work in my 1969 charger? or are they longer? (i mean the 727 is massive as it is lol)
thanks

A lot of them have a parking brake on the output shaft.  You will just have to look at it to know for sure though.

Some RV transmissions have a fixed yoke instead of a splined output shaft too.

fixed yoke as in not removable from tail housing of trans?

Fixed yoke means that it has a yoke that doesn't slide on splines.   It would look similar to the yoke on the rear end.   You are required to have a slip joint somewhere between the transmission and the rear end.

Garner is right. The drive shaft would have to be a slip and spline type like what is used on the front of a traditional 4 wheel drive truck.

well that sucks lol

on the other hand Garner7555 i am not sure if your car is orange or red  (thinking red) but that bad boy is AWESOME!! I absolutely love RED.

Maybe i will do a RED GENERAL LEE?

we just pulled one from a 77ish rv, it had a short 727 transmission

Count the splines, 23 is a lockup and 24 is a non-lockup. Also, I seem to remember some RV's had different gear ratio's than the cars and light trucks.

Old myth, no factory 727 ever had a low gear set. Motorhome 727's are built heavier duty and make good cores...the oddball tails can be replaced with passenger car tails to fit in cars.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Yup, just swap the output shaft and rear case and tah dah! Hd torqueflite. They usually had the wider style bearing drum and the extra clutchs like the hemis.

thanks John! thats good info

Nope and nope. Wide bushing only after '70 and same clutch count as a HP non-Hemi car.

He said 75-77 motorhome donors so they should have the wider bushing. Ive pulled mh 727s apart that had the extra clutches. Perhaps they were modified on overhauls somewhere down the line. Good to know it was not factory.
