Okay guys I already talked to moparguy01 and he thinks it could be amp gauge going whacko. Anyways, I just reinstalled my alternator today and got my car running. I noticed when I started it up that my amp gauge is all over the place. When I rev it just slightly the gauge pegs. I thought it would be a field wire. I had the alternator tested and it turned out fine, the voltage regulator was replaced with a new Borg & Warner so I don't think its that and it was working fine before I took the car apart. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be?

Measure the output voltage of the alternator while it's on the car.
Should max out at about 14.5v

I have had overcharging read on stock ammeter but wasn't really because high charge load. I have had 24 volts and extremmely poor amperage... reason was on short in alternator rotor. That high output voltage can cause a high reading on stock ammeter but not really a high amperage flow.

Thanks guys. Well I tried to check voltage but, unfournately my car is not getting any juice whatsoever to anything. I don't have anything at the dome light, the car won't even crank over now. I checked the fuses and they were good. I checked the voltage on the battery and I'm reading 11.9 volts with the voltage meter so that's not extremely low. Anyways, not sure what happened. When I started it yesterday it had it running for a total of 30 seconds at most. Oh yeah, I tried a spare voltage regulator and got the same thing.
