Looking at a 1970 Sport Fury this weekend. Anything specific to look for?

I am checking out a 1970 Sport Fury 4 Door this weekend. Its a 383 car with power steering/brakes. Its kinda rusty but would be a sweet cruiser. Is anyone familiar with these cars that knows something specific you need to watch for when buying one or just the basic old car stuff?

Nothing any different then any other mopar except its a full frame car.
Make sure the hideaway headlights function, and grill is un-cracked.
Look for rust underneath the vinyl top.
Make sure it has a fender tag.

I have a 1970 Fury III four door & I love it. Quiet & comfortable, like driving a couch.

Best advice I can give you is to find one that is in great shape. Parts support from the aftermarket is not likely for sheet metal or glass.

a '70 is a uni-body car like the rest of the "musclecar era" Mopars - it does have a removable front subframe

the 1966 Imperial was the last full-frame Mopar of the '60s

Best two pieces of advice.    It is not worth considering to look at a rust bucket, especially when it has two extra doors.

I was visiting a pal that had some broadcast sheets he had found in some E-bodies he had owned over the years & he wanted to give them to me.

He mentioned "I am thinking about selling one of the cars."

Done deal & very happy to have it.

....in those situations I prefer to think that it was a nasty ringer with rust underneath the filler and the new owner was done up like a kipper!

I've got a 70 Sport Fury coupe.  Great thing about these cars, is they're very cheap.  Bad thing is, parts are very hard to find, which is probably one of the reasons the cars themselves are so cheap.  Mines getting a 12 valve cummins swap.

Great cars, BUY 'Em and drive them whilst you can...

Doubt if they will make any TWO TON electric C-Bodies in the near future...
C-Bods are for REAL Mopar enthusiasts, not just posing wannbees...

I used to have a clean 1972 Fury .
Hands down one of the best driving cars Ive ever owned. That thing would float on hiway speeds like it was on air

Not to mention they make great long distance  swap meet cars. 4 buddies ride in comfort and a trunk you can put an Omni in for a spare.

Would I buy one with the intention to 'restore it ' ?
not a snowballs chance.

( ps the back seat is HUGE btw )

Even if you wanted to drive it every day,  it would be far better to overpay for a clean western car versus a really good deal on a rust bucket.

The body work aside (which does not look insurmountable of the description is accurate)....I'm amazed how cheap cars like that are over there. You should not get a good running 383 engine out of one for $1500 here let alone the whole car!

1970 Plymouth Sport Fury, 4 Dr HT, 125,000 miles, original 383 V-8, auto trans, PS, PB, Factory A/C, Factory AM-FM Radio, all glass is good, body solid, no damage other than typical rust around lower quarter panels, interior complete and in good condition, everything works as it should, dual exhaust, good chrome, good bumpers, 4 new tires, new gas tank. Fun car to drive as is or good choice for full restoration. Wouldn't take much to make it showroom condition. Clean title. Asking $1500.
