Easier to say two syllables than three for the dimwits. :pity:

My Road Runner gets called Charger more than you would think, even someone looking at the logo will say "I did not know that Road Runner made a Charger back in the 60s".  Wow.

You can go this route:

People are idiots. They live their lives operating their minds on cruise control instead of thinking their way through the day.

Fred

You can say that again. They may as well have been born without a brain. They sure don't use them as intended. Are they just to lazy to think? Or does it hurt too much!
How do they manage to get through life?
Beats me.

Some people say "Charger, Challenger" same thing.  :brickwall:
I say yea "Corvair, Chevelle, Camaro, Corvette " same thing.

I did that at a car show once just to get some laughs. Redding CA 2008. They have a big festival every year, "Kool April Nights."
I was walking the show car field with the wife. As usual, there was a crowd of people walking around. I saw an orange 71 Charger and said..."THis is a really nice Mustang."
It was great. Everyone walking nearby stopped walking and looked at me as if I was naked doing Jumping Jacks. Most had a WTF expression. I laughed and laughed and MOST got the joke.
It is a lot of fun being annoying.

Are there many Challengers in Australia? If not, that works to your advantage.

Fred

I would guess there are slightly more Challengers than Chargers in the country but I think it's a pretty close call.

Most people see cars as a utility device. A small percentage know that cars can be cool, but are clueless about specifics. All Dodges are Chargers, all Ford are Mustangs, and all Chevys are Camaros.  At least they give a passing crap about it, even if they get the name wrong, instead of giving you grief.

Yup, I think of this every time I drive my Charger and see the idiots around me either not paying attention, cutting in front of me, tailgating etc.   I try to give myself a few car lengths on the highway since my car doesn't stop on a dime and of course 2 people squeeze right in front of me.  :brickwall: :flame:

Nope. They just dont care or its not important enough a thing for them to know.

If I posted a pic of two refrigerators w the brand/name plates blacked out, you probably wouldnt know which is which.

Does that make you an idiot? No, but perhaps theres some refrigerator enthusiast somewhere to whom your "ignorance" is an outrage.

Ponch, your arrogance is showing.
People ARE idiots. (If you can't see the joke in this, move on)  WE/they go through life operating on 5% of our brain. They spend too much time on facebook, instagram, watching "Reality TV", they are self absorbed and monopolize conversations by talking mostly about themselves and rarely do good deeds for another person. They cut you off in traffic, wait until the last moment to merge, borrow things without returning them and If you do not agree, chances are that YOU are one of those idiots.
Moving on...

Lol...like we say here "Amongst every group of friends, including yours, there is one idiot ...if you don't know who it is...then it's you."

Every group of people has that one person that they do not like. If you like everyone, maybe it is YOU that is the person in question.

I can dig through google and cherry pick words most people do not use....It wouldn't make me any smarter. Sound familiar?
The topic was about how the common person has a habit of MIS-identifying these cars. I had an opinion and YOU wrote as if your word was the only valid one to ever be considered. That is arrogance. If you cannot see that, it shows a lack of humility which also can be described as arrogance. Take note and make changes. If you were joking, your delivery is not easy to follow.

F8-4life

Even to some car guys(read chevy/ford people) all mopar cars are dodges.

Kern Dog

I did read somewhere that some people look at their cars as being nothing more than an "appliance" like a washer, a dryer or a fridge. They use it to do a job and only worry about it if it breaks.
Along those same lines, a man wrote of how odd it would be if you happened upon a guy as passionate about washing machines as we are about cars.
This model XYZ was state of the art when it was new. To this day, no other model has an wash program as effective.
THis over here is an ABC. It has the rare scrub-o-matic vertical agitator that actually  moves up and down instead of twisting like a screw.

I bought THIS one last year, It is a one of 213 FTX Suds-Matic. It does not have the cleaning power of the XYZ but the motor that drives the drum spins at 1.5 times the average speed. It darn near dries the clothes enough to wear at the end of cycle. They only made 213 of these, they are pretty rare.

That's funny, I was just about to mention that computer guys are having this exact conversation about people who don't know every spec of their PC. Or how to write code.

It's why I don't really care if people call my stuff by the wrong name. Not everyone is a car guy, I get it. I can't tell them the specs of my smartphone, they can't tell me what model year or engine is in their own car. Different strokes for different folks.

One thing that does puzzle me is, when people approach me to talk about the Charger, and then immediately try to B.S. me.

Last summer I stopped at a gas station, and a ponytailed guy in his early 30s approached me with the usual "Nice car!" stuff. He was friendly and all, asked what engine, what year, the usual stuff, and seemed like a straight dude. I answered them, joked around with him, and thought all was well until he started telling me about his ride he left back home in Texas.

"What is it?" I asked. Without hesitation he said "It's a 67 Road Runner with a 454....."

I'd like to think he was joking with me, but he gave me every sign he was serious. And actually trying to sell me that lie.

Ill never understand that behavior.

I used to get Nova or Torino a lot when I had a 3rd Gen Charger.  :shruggy:

Nowadays with the Satellite, these are the names (in order) that it gets called: 1) a Charger (that's cool) 2) Coronet (its a reasonable mistake) 3) Roadrunner (Im flattered) 4) Galaxy (I kinda get it, I guess)
