I've been patiently waiting for an affordable '70 Charger kit for a LOONG time. I haven't built one in years, but would like to grab a few of these for that "someday". Looks like a very detailed model. I'm sure it surpasses the original MPC kits by far.

I'd still like to find an original MPC '70 kit just to have.
And a '70 promo model, in purple.  :scope:

Back last year when I was considering a color change from my current RED to a B-5 blue, having 2 car models side by side would have been fun to compare.

MPC made the bodies off the original factory blueprints.  I knew a few guys that worked there.
A 70 purple Charger promo is only $600. to $800. bucks these days.  A lot cheaper than a real one!

Why does the pink car pictured above have a windshield that appears too tall??  :shruggy:

I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

I agree, the MPC bodies are very accurate. The rest of the kit is typical 60s/70s detail.
The Revell ('69 based) Charger is very detailed, however the body has some inaccuracies IMHO.
Perhaps kitbashing the new '70 kit with an older body or a resin repro body might be the best of both worlds. Haven't seen the new Revell kit yet to make that call though.

A purple '70 promo just sold on eBay for $600, had worn chrome and a cracked vent window vertical support. Strong money. I do have a '70 promo in B5, mint with a mint box I would put towards trade of an FC7 in equal condition.  :scratchchin:

Here's a pic of my Allison promo. Colored box was signed by Bobby, back in 1971.

Its basically an updated version of Revell 1968 - 1969 Charger kits. Actually the body is a little better. I think the door scallops on the 68-69 are to exaggerated compared to the 1/1 . This 1970 kit is closer to the actual car in those respects . The tail lights are not 100% right for a 1970 . BUT,,, IMO close enough

I have an original 1970 annual kit here and used to have an original dealer promo( sold the promo last year )

I'll have to dig the kit out and do a side by side comparison of it versus this new tool

Your original MPC annual kit will have a perfect body.   :Twocents:

Agreed.  I have about 2 dozen 68-70 MPC buildups/projects/kits.  Mainly '69s.  The newest Revell is decent.  Better than no '70 kit for sure.  But there's just something about the way those MPC kits look that just...... :drool5:   Before Modelhaus quit taking orders, I placed an order as if I was never going to be able to get their stuff ever again.  So, I should be set for the annuals I have now, plus maybe a few newcomers down the road.

edit: I have been working on realistic grill inserts for the annual '69/Dukes/Country editions patterned off the Revell '69.  That's the one thing that bugs me about the MPC '69 is the grill inserts suck.  I actually prefer the Duke's 3rd gen Charger inserts over the '69 annual.
