Ok,
Im working on a 1968 Charger RT. Original console 4 speed car. So the console brackets are still as factory installed.
Believed to be an original 1969 style Hurst shifter mechanism with the slide in handle. Handle is a repop from Gunslinger.
Console is an original auto console converted / modified using a template from the busted up original to where to make the cuts

Issue I'm having is the lower portion of the handle is hitting the inside of the console. So when i try to put it in reverse it pushes the console out away from the trans tunnel hump.
Im wondering if the shifter mounting adapter bracket is not correct for a Hurst shifter, thus mounting the shifter to high ?

see attached picture

Is the front console bracket in place?

The one all the way towards the front  ?

Yes, but the way the shifter hits the console , There is no way it can be attached as is.

my gut feeling is the shifter is either to tall , or the bracket has the shifter mounted to high.

I would think if there were issues with the repop shifter. I would have heard something about it in the past ( bought it maybe 2 or 3 years ago directly from Jason at Gunslinger  )  He is no longer in business so talking to him is out.

Might call Brewers on Monday

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I had a repop console shifter I got from Mega Parts. Mine seemed to have a  better 90 bend on the mounting pad. I would think If you can just bend it a little you might get enough clearance. :Twocents:
