Hello newbie here to the mopar world I just picked up this 72 Rallye Charger 400 red w/black interior beautiful car I have been trying to do some research on the web there is not a lot of information available except for breaking down the vin I have done that and every things ok part of the vin is on the block so its matching number . I am trying to find production numbers for this car it is a 72 Charger  400 4v auto w/slapstick Rallye( p code )1/2 vinyl roof a/c am/fm ps. front disc pb . I guess they changed the hp rating from gross to net for various reasons. I am also trying to find out how the mopar guys feel about that is the car less desirable then the previous years ? Thanks Jim

Check out the web site I have scrolling below my signature picture. We have a lot of the 3rd gen codes. Plus you can register your car in the registry we have :yesnod:

As for the car being less desirable, well, that all depends on you personal taste. I love then myself as well as a few others here. ;D

The 'peak' popularity seems to be the 68-70 models, but believe me, people still *LOVE* the 71-74's (and the 66-67's, for that matter).  They have excellent value in good condition, too :)

I dig the the third gens (71-74) just fine - but I like em all.  :icon_smile_big:

This post needs PIX.

I almost picked up a 72 rallye 440 car earlier this year, it was a major project, but as far as I am concerned they are very desirable.  In my opinion the 71 R/T and the 72 Rallye are the most desirable 3rd gens.  Congratulations!

The car could use a new trunk lid that could be my chance to get rid of the signature I could hang on to the old one in case I ever sell it the : new owner may want it. All of the options are listed on the first post.
