Wish i had asked him to send me the pics.

A local came to buy my automatic console last night showed me the 69 he bought.

318 every panel rotten including floors. Torsion bar crossmember up threw the floor. All 4 rails toast. Maybe firewall is ok and some of the inner framing behind the doors. he said even the A pillars are all rotten.

i almost want to turn this into a guessing game the amount he paid lol.

Meanwhile, the repro industry still insists that a whole '68-70 Charger unibody would not be a big seller . . .

charger_fan_4ever

I will let this go today and post the price he paid tonight or tomorrow am.

Complete car, or ???  I have a 318 shell, and I mean shell, that needs....everything.  Almost every panel currently reproduced would be required.  Glass has been shot out.  No trim.  Nothing.  But the title is clean.  Buddy is kind of wanting it out of his field, so it's probably time to unload it.  Been thinking of playing a similar game as this thread and throw it on ebay and see where the bidding stops.

If the thread-game Charger is "complete", then I guess $4500.

I really don't understand the complaints about high prices.

If individuals are trading their own property at whatever price the market will bear, that's capitalism and free trade at work, right? Isn't that what diehard "'Murica" types are all about?

If rusted out shells are regularly trading at 10k or whatever now, that's not overpriced, that what the current value is.

If the car was overpriced, it wouldn't sell.

Inflation exists. Supply and demand exists. Stuff costs more than it used to.

Paying 250 grand for a Daytona would have been considered insane 25 years ago. Or paying any money at all for a rusty 2nd gen shell.

Collector cars appreciate, it happens. At least they seem to be staying ahead of inflation.

How much would you guys pay for front-row tickets to a Justin Beiber concert?

How much would you pay to be smuggled across the Mexican border into the USA?

A person's price bid for something is only relevant if they are a serious buyer.

Thought the original poster was talking about my car I just picked up, but I only paid $300 :icon_smile_big: Full of parts, bumpers, extra bumpers laying inside which were really nice, tail lights, was bucket seat center council car, has the pass seat, doors have power windows, (A pillars aren't rotten though). frame rails floors are gone.

alfaitalia

Time must be up OP....(hopefully....might be wrong with the time difference!).....so what was paid for the highly desirable Charger!?

Mistaking council for console, is not a typo! Its ignorance or lack of knowledge in using the right word for the job! If no-one pulls it up, the English language just sinks further and further, though I shouldn't expect too much from a people that think there's such a thing as aluminum... :brickwall:

On another note, I wish there were Chargers rotting away under trees over here, I'd take them even if they had a council in them!

Such a thing as "aluminum"? Not sure I understand but here is a thought...
I hear the English guy from "Wheeler Dearlers" pronounce it as Ahl-loo-minnie-umm. Americans took the English language and tweaked it a bit....We do not have an I between the N and U at the end of ALUMINUM. We also don't spell shop as shoppe as the British do or did.
Aside from that, I agree that people here are allowing the language to devolve. Urban slang, ghetto ebonics, Southern immigrants that don't care to learn English anyway...

Crazy prices though....YES, things have become really "out there". Some say that a price is only too high if nobody is willing to pay it. I'm not in agreement with that. If you are in a disaster and a store jacks the price of water and toilet paper, (Essential things we need!) what then? Just because the market can/will bear $20 for a case of water wouldn't you think that it is too much to pay?
Sure, many can afford that but it still sucks.

darbgnik

We still use a lot of the Queens English up here, north of the border:

color = colour
favorite = favourite
labor =  labour

Some areas still refer to the hood of a car as a bonnet as well.

Funny thing is, on my home computer, the actual English spellings on the right come up underlined red, as incorrect, lol.

That being said, we spell tires, not tyres..... would this be referred to as Creeping Americana? Hahaha
