I searched and didn't find the answer i'm looking for.
How much of a 67 Charger will fit under a 68/69/70 if one wasn't concerned with subtle differences in floor pans? There both 117"wb.
Thanks

Ghoste

I think there are a lot of differences in the rear portion of the unibody but Im not certain, so...? :shruggy:

im no expert but id imagine from the front seats and forward are the same, the rear seat pan may be very different because of the 67's long console and 2 bucket seats vs. the 68's rear bench,

rear leaf springs appear to interchange between 66-70 so i suppose the rear rails are similar, the upper shock mount is the same too, so maybe the panel in between the wheel houses is the same as well?

My intent was to use parts I have available. Obviously it will be somewhat of a frankenstien in the end. Have a rock solid 67 Charger body with suspension and a rotten 70 Charger that I want to use a 69 front clip on. It will more than likely end up orange with vector rims so no purist will want it anyway and I would of course disclose how it was made... I guess another way to look at it is, would there have been any 66/67 race cars that got the new 68 sheet metal instead of building a whole new car?

66-70 front floor pan rear footwells and rear seat pan along with torsion bar cross member are all the same. Plugs in floor slight differences.

Yes, but because of the proprietary nature of the race cars, it is not as simple on a street car.  Wheel base is the same.  Things that connect to the body shell like wheel houses, trunk extensions would likely need to be fabricated.

Wow... an ORANGE Charger with Vector wheels?  Where did you get that idea?

I used 68 floor pans in my 67. I didn't do the work but the fellow who did said with some "massaging" they worked fine.
I don't think any replacement sheet metal is bolt on these days anyway.
