Caught in the rain

The first time in about 10-years where we (the car & I) really got wet. It rains so-seldom here and when it does I generally hear about it long before it arrives. Not today. Nothing like the folks in Texas have been getting, but a pretty good soaking for here:

The good news is that very little leaked, at least from what I could see while driving. The wipers worked and even the window washer got used.  A good excuse for a thorough clean-up I suppose.

Driving in the rain made me remember lots of wet summer days in other cars from long ago (it seems like it was always wet in Pennsylvania when I lived there).  Traffic sucks anymore here in the Denver metroplex, and today was no-exception.  Coming off of the clutch on a wet road in heavy traffic really makes you pay attention.  The first rain after a good length of time makes things pretty slick and anything even remotely aggressive had things spinning in every gear.  Definitely a cheap thrill.

Whoa, sounds like a lot of fun!! But also glad you got home without incident... living in California I know how things get after the first rain in many months. It's not me I worry about, it's the other people on the road.

What a stunning car by the way!  :2thumbs:

mariusjh03: thank you.

Well....you do worry about that. My car's 50th birthday is next July 5th and much of it is still original (including the wiring harness). There are new seals on the wiper shafts (where most of them leak first) and fairly recent rubber on the windows (90s?) .  The factory dual-point can be a weak spot, as well as the plug connectors on the firewall.  At one time or another I've had each of those items give me trouble on other cars. Thankfully, no issues this time.
