Gas gauge issues that never end!

I am desperate for help and I hope that someone can give me some direction on this ongoing problem. The bottom line is my fuel gauge has not and is not reading correctly. Here is a brief history. Any suggestions or experience are very welcome! The vehicle is a 2007 Charger SXT.

•   1 year ago: on occasion when the car was started it would give a false reading on the gas gauge, often times showing empty. Upon re-starting it would correct itself.
•   One day while driving the car simply ran out of gas despite the gauge saying there was fuel.
•   Both fuel pumps were replaced with OEM parts and this seemed to correct the problem for a short time but it began again.
•   The problem evolved and the gauge would randomly drop straight to zero and the gas light would come on. This happened every time the car was operated. It was only a matter of time. This was then accompanied by a check engine light.
•   Both fuel pumps were replaced (warranty) in case one of them was bad. Afterwards upon start up (with a full tank) the gauge would go right to a ½ tank and the needle would then SLOWLY creep up to the full mark. Within 2-days the problem was back with the check engine light coming on all the time.
•   I went to a different mechanic who said when he operated the vehicle he noticed that the voltage on the fuel pump sensor was dropping to zero. He opened the instrument cluster and found a lose screw. He tightened it and amazingly this seemed to fix the issue...for 3 days.

As it stands the check engine light comes on every start. Mechanic confirmed it was a fuel sensor. The gauge continues to be incorrect but it does not drop to zero any longer.

One other note. I have had a remote car started in the vehicle for 5 years without issue. At one point it stopped working correctly in the summer months when the AC would be on. The car would start, stop, start, stop. When I talked to my installer he said the voltage needed to be adjusted because of the draw of the AC. My issues began sometime after this was done.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Where do I go next? Replace the instrument cluster? The word "voltage" came up a few times. First, the remote car starter settings had to be tweaked. Secondly, the mechanic detected 0 voltage which testing. Any help is appreciated.

Sorry to mislead you...This is a classic Charger site! There may be a few LX Charger people here and there but for the most part, this forum caters to the 1966-74 Charger models.

I apologize. Is the entire site dedicated to classics or just this section?

You don't have to apologize. But yes, the entire site is for classics.
As kerndog says, there may be some guys that can help.
If not, the lxforum.com is where I would try next.

I wonder what the reaction would be on the LX forums if I posted about slicing up a new Charger or 300 for a pro touring build?
