Geez, who takes a QQ1 Bright Blue and white car and paints it black?!? :P

I don't know if it could get any more stripped. Almost like my Challenger. But mine was an awful light green to start with.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

The first image looks good but things go down hill from there. But I do get a kick out it having a slant six and three speed manual trans. You don't see that often.

Too bad the effort to refurbish it wasn't to put it back to original, because that's where the most value and interest lies in an oddball like this.

I can actually envision a /6 fanatic springing for this car.

Soon to be a 440 4 speed R/T clone.

That would be my first order of business....I'd drop that boat anchor of a /6 out of that engine bay before it had chance to cool off!

per the fender tag - only one OPTION - "white wall tires", & I'd bet it had "deluxe wheel covers" to go with them - but that's it  :hah:

It would be different to have for the oddity that it is, but he's trying to get restored money for something that needs a full restoration. I don't think so.

The rear window trim delete, custom wood grain grip steering wheel from K-mart and the

Nice pics.

Shame that engine would barely move such a big vehicle. That definitely has to get replaced.

What kind of steering wheel is that? - I like it... and it isn't too big either, just right. Dimensions anyone?

Did they? My Bros Charger did not. Didn't even have control arms with the tabs. Not to say it wasn't changed over its 40+ years, but  seems like a backwards effort, even for a hillbilly restoration effort.

What would make that the holy grail of Chargers?  It's an oddity but certainly not the most sought out.  It's rare but I don't think particularly valuable.  To me it would be worth more if done right.  Sort of like the unicorn of Chargers.

The Holy Grail of Chargers eh? I've been wrongly lusting after a 69 Hemi Daytona all this time...when what I really should have been dreaming of is a 6 cylinder boat anchor with a column change...silly me! Some one on here they said they know of another......bit of clever engineering required and hey presto 550 inch (that's 7.4 litres to us Brits!) V12! That's more like it!

Seriously.  Cool car no doubt. I'm in with the QQ1 and white interior too. Why change that to black?

I hope it doesn't get turned into a clone but I think that's probably going to happen...  :brickwall:

There was a really cool unrestored b5 /6 70 challenger for sale at Carlisle 2016 that I wished I could have brought home with me for my son. Then again there is always at least one car I want to bring home from there.

Right.  Along with the battery, radiator, etc.  I wonder if it was messed with or was the rad pulled just to flush it?
Mopar forever!

Chad L. Magee

It is a shame that it was not restored back to total originality per the fender tag.  While it is not particularly valuable like a big block version, it is definitely on the rare side. Very few second gen Chargers came with the /6 from the factory and very few of them still have their /6 in place.  Most were used as either parts cars, hot rodded or cloned into something else.....

The true unicorn for the Chargers is the 1970 Charger 500 SE /6.  It was a one of one.  It has not been located yet, but the buildsheet was found for it years ago in another car....

Comparing the two pics, I'm guessing the one with the missing stuff was taken shortly after the engine was rebuilt & installed...or maybe it was merely painted. It's a lot dirtier in the second pic.

Actually...if there was ever a Holy Grail Charger out there, it would be this one. The '70 Charger HEMI 500 (non-R/T). Presumably 1 of 1, first one off the assembly line. Bring me THIS one and you will be granted knighthood!  :D

Years ago, I had much larger pics of this car (so huge I had to re-size them), but thanks to the progressively failing & encroaching interweb these days, and of course, their hacker minions through the years, those large pics have all been lost, as far as I know. C'est la vie! :icon_smile_angry: Many thanks for the '70 Charger Registry for retaining these two. :)

was it a 1970 charger ? , I believe for the 70 there was a turn pike option package , think it mentioned reduced spring rate ,  a 2.45 rear gear , front sway bar delete , I await to be corrected by the 70 charger Mob  :coolgleamA::cheers:

I passed on the information about the second 1970 Charger made to the owner of the first one (pictured above).  I found it for sale on ebay at the time and he ended up buying it.  The second one was an fully optioned RT/SE (VIN XS29U0G100002, I initially remember it being a 440-4bbl. but maybe it was a six pack car?).  So, the owner of the first one also owns the second one for that year of production....
