Wheel moldings are a nice touch, it finishes out the car. No wheel moldings make the car look finished for circle track racing, no extras to get torn off in a close encounter. Now the door scoops, I would call vents if they were functional so to me It just remind me of gills, like on a fish but still not functional. But when a Charger pulled up along side you some night at the signal light back in the day with door scoops, you would know your up against a 440ci. What a rush that was.

I know Charger pricing is an animal all it's own but 80K for that???  I could spend a bunch to correct it and then have a nice but not exceptional car IMHO.

I'm really not fond of Blue interiors either but I know that is just personal taste.

I agree that the door indention are one of my many favorite things about a 68-70 Charger. My red 70' R/T S.E. has the R/T door scoops & I have always hated them but since they belong on the car, they stay.

I'm just the opposite, the 70 door scoops look right at home covering up those scallops, and the 70 front bumper and grille seem just so natural to the shape of the car's lines, the 68-69 front bumper looks like a last minute band aid solution as to what to hang there, the 69 grille with the splitter center divide just looks out of place and distracting, the 68 grille is just too barren a detail-less cavity, I can't even stomach the 68 tail lights....sorry but the 70 Charger R/T is the pinnacle of the 2nd gen Chargers

Nah! What other car has the front bumper right the way around the radiator grille....none as far as I know...well at least none done quite like that. Just looks weird to my eye. I can take or leave the side panels...but it does cover a nice detail imo. I've NEVER seen a 70 in the UK (not saying there isn't one somewhere)...because everyone one wants a 68 or 69. I agree that the 68 was a little plain at the front...but the 70 just over did it with all the chrome around the "mouth" like a girl past her prime and trying a bit too hard with too much lipstick! Lots of manufacturers seem to make the same mistake. Take the Audi TT for example. The first one was nearly prefect if a little plain Jane....take two was just about prefect. But then it all goes horribly wrong with the next one.....reminded me of a hooker past her prime and hoping that by pretending to be something she's not she might drum up some trade..lol!
But of course beauty is verymuch in the eye of the beholder and every b body Charger saved is a great thing. I would not say no to one at the right price....just as long as I could get the parts to clone it into a 69. Lol!
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

When I bought my 70 in 2003, my intention was to swap a 1969 front end on it. After a short while, the original 1970 styling just grew on me. I'm not the Purist type. I like what looks right to me.
The loop bumper and recessed grille of the 1970 looks great to me now. The 1970 R/T door treatment? Nah...I have never liked it for a few reasons. They are NON functional and cover the scallops. The optional pinstripes that came instead of the Bumble Bee stripe wasn't a favorite of mine either.
I love the 68 models. The open grille, the round taillights....Great on the outside but the 1970 interiors are far nicer if you are into factory stock stuff.

Troy, What brand wheels and size are on your Daytona?
They are from Bart Wheels... It is my understanding these are the same wheels/pattern that Bart made for the NASCAR Grand National teams back in the early 70's when the new slotted wheels became the norm ( used to help with the cooling of the brakes ). They are 15x8's with a 4" back-spacing. The issue with this is the outside of the wheel/tire is pretty darn close to the wheel opening. I have to be careful with I turn the tires all the way, they will contact the upper wheel opening and ultimately, and with fear, rub against the wheel-lip molding. As you know, the front wheel-lip molding on a Daytona is VERY unique..... I have 255/60R/15's all the way around....
