Fender Tag Color(s)

I have recently seen four F6 B-body fender tags. Two of them are F6 and two of them are black 
The two F6 tags were on a Daytona and 318 '69 Charger.
The two black tags are on a '69 OEM restored A12 Super Bee and the other is on mine.
So, what's the story here?

I always thought someone painted mine black, but it looks like one coat of original paint.

the only black ones should be on black cars

M-code Super Bees were built at Lynch Rd. Detroit MI - their tags were not attached to the inner fender when the car was painted - they were hanging from somewhere inside the car & received varying amounts of overspray in body color

your Charger's tag should be F6
