I finally got a 69 Charger jack. My friend sold his 68 and i purchased jack from him. I have the spring i have it in the car correct but how do you get it in there tight so that  the jack doesnt rattle around. When i press up on the jack which is in the downward position on jack since its upside down in car, its hard to fight against that spring. So i know theres a trick too it. Whats the secret.

I don't have a picture, but IIRC the spring hooks onto the jacking mechanism and then other end to the loop welded to the floor.  Then, just operate the jacking mechanism to stretch the spring tight.  Just to make sure you have all the right stuff, the jack itself rests in two sockets, one on top of the wheel well and the other on the trunk floor near the tail light end.  I'll look around for a pic.  Wait, I just read you post again, mount the jack so the top is toward the front of the car then attach the spring and operate the jack to pull the spring tight.

Edit:  found a picture of the loop and one socket.

I do not have my jack in the car yet but I thought the jack handle goes through the loop on the floor and the spring goes around the handle right next to the loop then up to the jack  ??

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

It's been awhile since I had my trunk open, but if I remember correctly, one of the four notches in the base of the red jack goes around the bottom of the loop welded to the floor, and tucks under the jack handle which is held up slightly off the trunk mat by the tension on the spring. (run on sentence)  :eek2:  ;)

I think I have a jack that is close enough to the look of your red one to use in my car
Is it a bolt welded to the floor for the wing nut to hold the handle for the red jack or is it a bolt that goes right through the floor with a nut on the top side of floor under the trunk mat ?

There is a piece of jute material glued to the top bracket. It is usually missing.

Do you have a Daytona? the red scissor jack is not used in regular chargers.

Hey good looking out on that jute. Well i went to take pix of how i had it in the car. First pix were blurry. Then i said let me take it out and take a pic of each step i made on installing it right. Then  without paying attention i put it in the right way. I went ( ohhhhh thats the trick!!) LOL i had it right side up, but in wrong direction. I had it laid in there in the jacking downward position. It should be with the jack facing back of drivers seat as if you're jacking toward drivers seat. Better yet, with the selector facing drivers side or left side quarter panel.  Once in position and spring on, jack the jack in the upward jacking position.  Thanks for the replies. First pic is wrong. Then the rest are correct.

I got a jack sitting in the basement that I was gonna get blasted and powdercoated...   then I realized my AMD bumpers had no slot to use the stock
jack so all I'd be doing is carrying around a useless show jack.

From the bottom up:

Bolt head, washer, trunk floor, trunk mat, washer, nut, wing nut. ;)
