so on my 69 sunroof charger the spot on my broadcast sheet for vinyl top it is blank. question is how did they know what color top to put on it,and who put it on asc, or the assembly plant.

Pretty sure the 1969 Chargers got shipped off to a nearby ASC shop for the sunroof install. Not sure where the color of the vinyl top was documented - as you have found out it is not on the broadcast sheet or the fender tag - and not on the window sticker either. I am guessing that a majority of sunroof cars got a fairly standard color scheme for the vinyl top - most of the time matching the interior color or matching the stripe color. I will look into this further after I get home and get some sleep.

Sorry - I do not have a clear cut answer on this question yet. As you have figured out on the 1969 Charger sunroof cars - the vinyl top color is not indicated on the fender tag or even the broadcast sheet. I do have one "car" in the registry, in which the "car" is only a dealer invoice that DOES indicate the color of the vinyl top - from Dan P's records.

I have 25 cars in the registry that I am fairly certain the vinyl top/top color is original to the car. Here is what I found:

On the XS29 R/Ts
- If the interior and the stripe were the same color - then the vinyl top was that same color.
- The 2 triple black cars have a white stripe.
- The 2 T5 copper cars have a tan interior but a white top and stripe.
- The 2 Green cars with green interiors are split - one green top - one white top - but both with white stripes.

On the XP29 cars
- Most cars, the top matches the interior color.
- Most of the exceptions show up on the Green cars.
- The 2 Green cars with green interiors have white tops.
- Then there is John's car - F8 green, with the Black SE interior, and a white top.

I hope this was somewhat helpful!

The attached picture is from the dealer brochure page that shows the possible colors, and what color combinations were "standard" for the 1969 Chargers - info off of Barry's Hamtramck Historical page.
