One of our local Mopar members emailed me about Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, etc) looking for some Challengers/Cudas and some Chargers for a movie to be made here in Austin with I think Robert Rodriguez also.

I am meeting him at his compound tomorrow afternoon.  I guess it is time to clean her up and make sure she is ready for her interview!!

2 years ago the same thing happened as the 67 was in the running for another movie and lost out to a 56 buick if I remember correctly.

Off to make her pretty!!! ;D :icon_smile_big: :punkrocka: :boogie:

See if they want to buy a Challenger for the movie.... I have a nice one they can do what they want with it....

Awesome man!   Keep your eye on Quentin though, that dude is smoking something fierce, and has turned a bit crazy. He might do a Dukes slide across your hood or something. He looks a lot like my brother, which is pretty scary.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

I have to agree. Quentin has had something happen to him and its not in the positive direction. A wee bit looser each month he seems to spin. ;D

Very cool. I'd love to have an opportunity like that. Tarantino is weird but I love his work. Maybe I'm weird too.

Good luck
Hope yours gets picked for the movie
That'd  be cool to have your Charger in a movie.
Wish I was down there...I'd try with ours too!

It's going to be for this movie......

Called "deathproof" about a stuntman who has a "deathproof" stunt car that he drives around and kills women in.

The cover shows a camaro - but I can see them working a Charger into the script.

It's part of a feature film called "grindhouse" that has two 75 minute horror movies, one directed by Robert Rodriguez and the other directed by Quentin Tarantino.
The Robert Rodriguez one is about zombies and has already been filmed - Quentin's is filming right now.
My guess is that he's casting for background muscle cars - because he has some, from what I understand, crazy car chase scenes in the movie with bodies flying around and I don't think anyone would want their Charger being smashed. I'd bet they already have a few versions of the main car that they can crash at their discretion.

Maybe all members here should start a website for Charger rentals with location and photo of Chargers. This way we can keep the Charger rentals fees at a decent rate and list the insurance requirements.  :icon_smile_big:

"Better Off Dead"
80's comedy with John Cusack, and he rebuilds his black '67 Camaro by the end of the movie to race the chinese guys.

Some guy hunted it down years later and fixed it up - then he created a really rockin' website for the car that gives all the details. Many here would appreciate the pages on the search and resto of the vehicle even though it is a Chevy.

Here's the site....

That is a great website. Thanks for posting it. Look at his "Car Show" section. In the last picture he is parked next to a green Charger. That is a bad ass car. I thought that car was so cool in that movie. I would take that car in a second. I am glad to see it still looks good.

Hey man I wish the best and hopefully everything works for you in this case. Hopefully, they won't do anything bad with the Charger.

Trivia, Quentin lived with James Best (Rosco P. Coltrane) for a period of time years ago.

Well, got there at about 1:45. Guy in a bike came up to me and park near the 69 charger. there was a trashed 71 charger, a local nice 73 charger SE, my buddys 70 challenger covertible, another 70 challenger hardtop and a 4 door coronet.

Guy from the car locating place came to me and seen my charger around town. Once everybody got there they took us to the break/recreation room that was filled with food/drinks/etc.

Bad ass posters of SinCity on the wall and the bathroom doors had characters from the Spy Kids movies.

We had to stay away while Tarantino and his group looked over the cars. We finally got to go outside and watch Tarantino from a distance inpsect each car with a lens from different angles (I guess directors type of stuff).

He seemed a little excited and hyper over some of the talks with his group os assistants. We were not allowed to take pictures at that time.

As I was the first one to leave, the car locating guy said he will be calling me soon as shooting for the movie does not start for a two more months.

Basically, they buy the cars at a certain price and you have first choice to buy the car back at about 60% to 75% of what you paid after all filming is done or get paid as an extra and drive your own car for about $250 per day.

Here is the 69 charger with a 4 speed and a mint 73 Charger SE with power windows!!!

Beat up 3rd gen (I know the owner, had the car 30 years and drives it everyday!), I believe a 70 challenger and a 4 door coronet!! ;D

topduarte

My buddy's challenger vert with a 340, door emblem from Spy Kids movies on bathroom door and a few Sin City posters. :icon_smile_big:

Just 6T9 CHGR

So whats the deal?  Are they going to use the car or not?

If I read correctly, they want to BUY your car?

Unless they offer stupid amounts of money, and they decide to use my charger, I will go the route of being an extra and driving my own charger and get paid for it daily.

Cross my fingers!!!

I would tend to think that's the whole reason for them "buying" it.  No annoying owners around to tell them what they can or can't do.

If Quentin does not use your Charger, cut of his finger. The little one.  :yesnod:

Great movies and directing, best of luck!

Was this where they are collecting all the props for the film? In the background you can see the four of the same tow trucks - obviously a main "character" in the film, because they need one or two for stunts, one for close-ups and medium shots and another cut in half, for the actors to simulate driving in front of a green screen.

I wonder if these vehicles were used in Robert Rodriguez's section of the film that was reportedly already shot.

You can see three of the four in the background here....

and the half truck, for actors to simulate driving in...way in the back here.....

any word on these salty looking old-timey tow trucks?
