Saw this 1970 Charger R/T on ebaymotors and saw it was at an exotic car dealership here in Houston. So, thought I'd jump into the ole Daytona and go for a visit. Love the 70 v-codes.. It is about one of two sort of cars I'd give up the Superbird for.. This car is pretty darn solid.. Needs a bunch of small detailing items, but for me that doesn't distract too much....

More. Had a real nice 70 Chevelle SS there too.

Nice car overall...Just needs some detailing as you said...

What in the heck banged the drivers side valve cover like that....

Troy,
Did you get a sense that they would be open to trades on the Charger?  Especially for a more expensive car, i.e. their Charger and $ for another car?

With any business, I'm sure they are open for discussion..

Heck, if you just want something different and a project to finish, when the Superbird is done with paint, I'll trade ya.....  :D

No wheel opening moldings.  I would bring a set of rears to make sure the quarters where correct.   :Twocents:  WINGNUT

That Chevelle was RED ? When was the last time you saw a RED Chevelle?
(Every car show)
That Charger in B5 looks great! I was tempted to change the color of mine from Flame Red to B5. I love B5 but I don't think I am going to go that route now.

Very smart...
From looking in the trunk, under the rockers and in the complex area of the bottom corners of a Charger, I couldn't see any evidence of panel replacement. I looked at all the spot welds ( not that those areas could have been saved and worked around ), but didn't see anything inside the trunk. Inside the trunk in the area of the filler panel, quarter and rear window bottom corners was very clean, no evidence of work up in there...  :2thumbs:

That does look nice. I live about 100 miles away, will stop to view it next time I am in Houston.

Optional on R/T. Although that idea would as you mention tell if they are correct.

I have the factory wheel well moldings off of my car taped together, and hung up in the shed. Never going back on this car! Maybe the next guy.

So wheel well moldings were optional on R/Ts? Only 70 Charger R/Ts and not 68 or 69?

CHARGER wheel lip mouldings:

1968 - STANDARD ALL
1969 - STANDARD ALL
1970 - STANDARD Charger 500 (XP29), OPTIONAL Charger R/T (XS29), Not-Available Charger (XH29)

Okay thanks for that info.  :2thumbs:

Now that I know that, another reason why 70 Chargers are my least favorite of the 2nd gens. EVERY 2nd gen Charger looks way better with the wheel well trim in place. Just my 2ยข

So because you could opt out of something if you didn't prefer them, like myself, it's you're least favorite year? Tough crowd......... hahaha

No that's just another notch in the belt and not solely the reason for the 70 Charger dislike.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Like who was responsible for adding the door hood scoops on the RTs?? Over the door scallops, one of the most iconic features of the 2nd Chargers. That guy should've been fired for even presenting it at the oval table.

It's all good. I'll take a 70 Charger over any E Body and I don't want to turn this thread in a 68-69-70 debate.

I agree, if there was any place to add non functional scoops, over the door scallops isn't one of them....

Over the door scallops is the perfect spot for those scoops. :scratchchin: :shruggy:

Surely they should not be called scoops (fake or otherwise) as they face the rear. A scoop would face the front ...no? Maybe vents or exits or whatever! I don't mind them even though I'm not big 70 fan...just a pity they cover what for me is one of the main things that make a Charger look like a Charger.
