68 Charger Console Plate Color ??

I want to repaint the gray borders on the shift plate on my 68 Charger.
Has anyone done this before ? not sure if I need to prime the chrome,  and does anyone know the correct color gray or color number ??

try Krylon 1403 dull aluminum, I think it is the same as the grill surround.
