I just received my new MCG in the mail, and I was happy to see a girl on the cover again!
I hadn't bought an issue of MCG since the mid '90s, back then they always had acover model along with the cars etc on the cover.  I started buying the magazine again last summer after getting back into the hobby, I remarked at the time that they used to have girls on the cover but thought they went the way of the Snap-On calendar girls etc.
Glad to see her back  :icon_smile_big:

Good marketing!

I bought it last week & thought she was pretty nice looking, but really wanted it to read & see the Mopars destroyed in New Orleans by Katrina. Some were under that contaminated water for weeks & the owners couldn't get to them for months.  ???

The cover shot definitely gets your attention. I know my 2 Chebby friends were looking through the magazine in my truck over the weekend at Carlisle, & they never looked before. :D

When I got home Monday I almost drop to the floor when I saw my wife reading the MCG magazine - I didnt say a word I just thought: "WTF" is this world coming too? :icon_smile_big: It turns out that my wife was trying to figure out if the girl in the cover was someone she knew. My wife was trying to find out the name of the girl in the cover. She might be my brother in laws old girl friend. If her name is Christine, then it has to be her! Could'nt find any info on the magazine cover or other parts of the magazine on the models name - oh well. I think it said that she was from New Jersey, so that's close by so it could possibly be - small world.  10-4! Nice to see girls in the cover! :2thumbs:

There is nothing wrong with cars and girls, I love both of them!  Remember AUTOBUFF?  Had a big fine collection, but a so-called friend stole all but one when he moved years ago.  The one he didn't get had the green 71 Challenger 440-six pac and I can't even find it anymore!  aint that the way it goes.

I'll take that bet.  Hell, the much vaunted Mopar Muscle has nothing going for it but good photographers and Steve Dulchich.  The mighty mighty Primedia can't even afford factcheckers.  Ever heard of a Tor-red Dodge?  Or how about the "fact" that Tor-red isn't orange?  Those are just the two that I remember off the top of my head from the last issue but there were others and they seem to have them each issue.
Most issues of that rag are half catalog offerings or new product press clips.  Very little as far as actual car features or tech articles especially after you remove the "add a power chip to your diesel Ram" articles.  The new cars may be here to stay but if I wanted to read about them, I'd pick up Car and Driver or Motor Trend.
There you see, they are all junk in one way or another.  Somebody get on here now and rag about Mopar Action with their stupid attempts to be funny or constant flipping through the mag to finsih the chopped up articles. ;)

I absolutely hate the way that Mopar Action continues almost every article in the back pages.  It's a cheap attempt to spread the adverts around and it's irritating.
Whatever happens to MCG, I'm glad that there's a girl there.  It seemed that only the Import mags wanted to tie in hot girls with cars...what a concept  ;)

MCG will be around when all of the others are distant memories. They are true mopar guys, not transplanted magazine guys. I trust what I read in MCG. Can't say that about the other mags. I subscribe to MCG and MM both, but prefer MCG hands down.

Yup, and they have been through a few Mopar mags already. I still miss Hi-Performance Mopar mag though. Mopar Muscle is fluff. Mopar Action is a good one, and now that I think of it, I think my subscription ran out.  :scratchchin:

MCG is a very small company. They play their cards well. They attend all the big shows, and basically just do articles on the cars that attend. No need to fly someone out to do a story, just get it at a show you are selling your product at. You win twice. They have cool shirts, hot women running the stands at shows and although Rob Wolfe is always ignoring the average Mopar, he still know his s*#t big time.

I subscribe to MCG, MM, and MA and look forward to getting them each month.  I know everyone has their opinion and there are pros and cons to all of them however it's Mopar Only Reading.  What more could anyone ask for more?

I spoke to the MCG staff and suggested to them that they need to provide more than short sleeve shirts.  I suggested long sleeve shirts and they told me their looking into some other things however I'm still waiting.

I am sure the editor of MCG has some killer mullet tips but otherwise in the few issues I have of the magazine he offers little other than his opinion.

I do say some things people do not like and I also wouldn't expect everyone to agree with me.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I don't have a favorite, but buy all of them on occasion based on what's in that issue. I do however, have equal complaints on all of them with one exception. MCG's editor is no different than the one at the National Enquirer & will print bulls**t to sell his rag.

A couple of years ago at the Chryslers at Carlisle show, I was present to witness something that happened at the end of the weekend on Sunday afternoon as everyone was leaving. All vendors pile the unsold, or unwanted stuff by garbage cans. It's normal to see good parts get tossed as well as see people rummage through the piles. I've found some good parts over the years like a 340 Duster grille, a rust free Charger trunk lid, Road Runner headlight bezels, and a few other things I gave away or traded for something I needed.

The vending space that MCG had, had piled up boxes, folding tables & a styrofoam cooler by the trash can. When I saw someone sifting through the boxes, there were a stack of older magazines, T-shirts, & a few other things. My first thought was that MCG had done well enough selling & left the rest behind since it was a PITA to haul it home. After watching more & more people sift through boxes & take things, I helped myself to a few copies of the magazines I didn't have. I ended up talking to one guy for almost 20 minutes about Mopars & then split.

Two issues later, MCG's editor printed that his booth was stolen by someone who he has a license plate & description of. He was appalled that some fellow Mopar lover would rob his belongings in the 5 minutes he was gone to get his van. He was giving them a chance to redeem themselves before turning over the info to the police & file charges. What a crock of s**t. The guy does something completely moronic & then makes up a story to cover it up.

This last month's MCG has to be one of the best IMO.  Some really great reading.  Of course some of their wild goose chase's from the past got tiresome,  but for the most part it's a pretty decent rag I think.
The mullet dude actually stopped and talked to me at a Seattle show, I thought he was pretty cool.  Hopefully the purple car gets his attention next weekend.  MCG is up here for the Spring Round Up every year,

1. Hot chicks and hot cars = Apples and Oranges.  I like 'em both, but every now and then a fruit salad gets me excited
I get a chub from a hot girl AND from a hot car, I guess I'm a swinger :o

2. Tattoos are sexy to me.  Too many misplaced tats isn't.  I don't like girls with excessive tats on their face/chest/legs etc but there's nothing wrong with them.  But then again I grew up i the whole Gen X era, that started the tattoo popularity thing in the early '90s.  Now even soccer mom's are going out and getting work done.  It's funny though that 18 yr old kids are thinking they're not sexy, it's just a change in popularity coming again I guess.  TLC will have to cancel their Miami Ink show  :icon_smile_cool:

3. I think she's OK looking.  She's dressed a little slutty, but I think that comes from the whole Ricer scene.  I don't know if she's someone's girlfriend at that show, but I'd expect she was a hired model.  Her agency prob got a call from the show's organizers asking for a model and they sent the usual Ricer/Stereo/Tuner-Show-type girl.  Wouldn't kick her out of my bed for eating...you know  ;)

I'm not a huge fan of MCG, but did miss when they stopped the girls and centerfold issues. Set them apart from the masses, and yes there are many many more items that separate all the magazines. But in the cover girl days Rob Wolf seemed like one guy trying to put together a magazine all by himself and the effort showed. The girls were a welcome relief and help to make his niche - IMUFO anyway.
All the magazines have their crowns and crosses and rightly so. But now I may just start buying MCG again. ;D

69_500

Well I found one thing in the new issue funny. Galen said that it was an over whelming response to his question about rear marker light bezels. And he said that it was decided they should be stripe color not body color.

I figured that listing 10 charger 500's that I knew of that were stil origional paint or origional owners would make him think that maybe the 500's were a screw up and it could be either way.

I just renewed my Son's subscription to MCG. I will renew mine as soon as it comes due.  I love MCG....I will do my part to keep it going.

Orange_Crush

1-  MCG is, as another member stated, nothing more than trader dedicated to mopars.  The writing is SO bad that, at times, its actually hard to follow, the layout is piss-poor and the graphics are almost an assault on the eyes.  When it comes to Mopar rags, none of them are good...but MCG is the worst of a bad lot...Its gotten to the point where when my mag comes, I don't even open it and just toss it in the trash...hell, the free t-shirt I got for subscribing wasn't even any good...it shrunk.

2- the broad is skanky, she's got a bad case of the "bigface" and her legs look like chicken drummies.  She looks like the communal wad-catcher at a crackhouse.  I wouldn't bang her with Ponch's dick.

The main thing that led me to cancell was the holier-than-thou column by Mr. Guru which pointlessly rambles in every direction, is written at the 6th grade level, and occasionally used to point personnal attacks at individuals he has disagreements with. Sometimes interesting information, but incredibly painful to read. I lost all respect for that mag and the editor whan they continued to print that drivel month after month. It's unbelieveable that the editor allows that crap to get into final print. The information can be interesting, but for love of Pete, get him a ghost-writer !! The photo that was used early on of the clown antenae ball or whatever in place of Govier's actual photo was 100% appropriate.

Whoever writes the Enviromasichism column is completely off his rocker, redeemed only by the fact that it's quite entertaining.

I have 10 or so years worth back from a year or so after Goviers column was added. I'm about to toss them. If anyone wants back-issues, PM me.

I actually went and bought this issue because of OM's mention of the Katrina cars article.     That wasn't worth the price after all was said and done.    There's a few new product articles that may be useful from time to time but I don't bother with half the mag because of the junk classifieds.
Yes,  I like slutty chicks and I like T-shirts but I don't want to promote things I don't believe in either.

I kinda figure it like this...   MCG is for people that like "collecting" cars - just like the title.   There's almost no tech in the mag and that's what I want.   If that's somebodies deal,  good for them.   Well... I collect a few 1/18 diecast cars and they sit on the shelf just like they're supposed to but I don't need a magazine for it.

Gawd I miss the old Chrysler Power mag....It could get preachy at times, but the articles were entertaining and it was geared towards the garage hobbyist.

Incidentally, the new Mopar Muscle has an excellent article on bying a Dart Sport and getting it running for under 800 bucks...THAT'S the kind of thing we need more of.

I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.
