Can anyone please tell me the correct weight and also recomend a brand that you have used in the past?

What other brands are available?

Is the Sure Grip Lube still available from Chrysler?

How much do I need?

Thanks in advance.

Mike, i used the 75-90w dino oil from the dealer but any good quality lube will be fine. The friction modifier is also available from the dealer. It used a couple of quarts if i remember correctly....it's been awhile since i had one apart. With the car level just add fluid through the fill hole until it begins to overflow...that's it.

I changed out the lube in my Dana 60 about 5 years ago and you still could get the sure grip additive from the dealer. Its a small bottle. I've heard people using other additives parts stores  sell and having chatter until they go to the dealership and get the real thing.

Just 6T9 CHGR

I have used the Ford additive with good results as well....its all the same stinky whale oil anyway....

I use Royal Purple in mine when i swapped to the 3.55's and it seems to work great....     it already has the limited slip additive in it

you could just use regular 80W90 GL-5 oil and modifier and change it more often.  only issue with synthetics is if your axle end oil seals are getting up there in age, chances are you'll have some oil leaking on your brakes, ask me how i know??? ::)  i'd rather just put regular good quality oil in like castrol 80W90 GL-5 gear oil and change it more often, it also gives you a idea on wear looking at the old oil and see if there's any shiny metal peices, which are bad by the way, ask me how i know that too? lol  :icon_smile_big:

I'm thinking maybe staying with the "dino" mineral oils for transmission and rearend. Is is so that one should not go higher than GL-4 on the A-833?
