Clutch fan end play

How much play should you have on a clutch fan, when I grab the blade and move it forward and back it will go about a 1/8", there is no noise or any problems with operation just noticed when replacing water pump pulley,

I think you should just be about be able to "feel" some play in the pump bearing....movement enough to put a 1/8" measurement on it is a bit excessive to me.  

Are you measuring this with the belts on or off?

Belts are on.  And water pump is new.

Mine wiggles a little, I chalk that up as normal. But 1/8" seems like alot. Even though at RPM it probably stays true.

That's what I was thinking to but just wanted another opinion.
