Hello everyone,

This is my first post on the site and I look forward to learning & being a part of the forum!

I have had my dream machine for some amount of time now and this is the year I am finally going to begin my first resto. The 68 Charger I have is in good condition overall however was stripped by the previous owner so I am sure the assembly will be fun.

Can anyone recommend a Book, or Restoration Manual that is an absolutely must have for someone in my position?

Regards,

Baldwinvette77

Honestly this forum is extremely helpful! its all i used to put mine together, but im sure others have more info, welcome, and make sure to post pictures!

Welcome!

Download the service manual if you don't have it yet. Also available in paperback if you prefer.

It's for 69 but same difference.

There are resto books out there but honestly, like Baldwin said, all you ever need to know about Chargers is right here.

If you're doing a 100pt resto then there are special books that will come in handy, I don't know what they're called though. It's the ones used on Graveyard Cars.

Project Charger is a fun book, but not a necessity. Looks good on the coffee table though.   :2thumbs:

There is nothing better than looking at a car that is completed. Find some other NW Chargers. Your'e welcome to look at mine and I know there are lot of other friendly Charger owners in the PNW that would be happy to do the same  :icon_smile_big:

Manuals are great, and if you are still stuck ? many on here can send pics of areas on Cars for reference.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I am actually in Kitimat, British Columbia Canada. (So pretty far NW)

Today was actually a big day, I found a 1970 Motorhome with a 440 that started right up. Going to pull it out next week.

Welcome from Alberta!

I know posting pics on here can be a pain, but we'd sure like to see how it looks, now, at the start!

A second for Project Charger if you just want to know what you're getting yourself in to.

Don't have many photos handy right now. With that being said here is the car as it sits today beside my dads 68 Fury 3.

I was able to sandblast the engine bay, paint, & throw some new front shocks in.

I'm down Fernie/Cranbrook B.C., not that far in the global membership context of this forum ? I have a complete '69 R/T if you need Pics of anything ? should be pretty close to a '68 for reference ?

Welcome. I'm restoring a '68 Charger as well and I have bought the books from MMC Detroit. I'm not doing a 100 point resto, but the previous owner mixed up, lost, replaced all of the correct hardware on whatever he touched. That is one thing that drives me nuts. The MMC Detroit books, shop manual and other guides help quite a bit, but like others have stated, nothing beats looking at original cars and talking to the guys on the forums that have a wealth of knowledge. There are a few things that are not mentioned in the manual or the restoration guides, and you have to just do some old fashioned research and ask the Mopar veterans on here  :2thumbs:

Are the MMC Detroit books the ones used on GC? Those look really nice.

Yes. I look to mine all the time. Great resource !

Well, I made some progress this weekend on the Charger. Managed to pull the 440 out of a 1970 Motorhome. Ran really well and had about 60,000 KM on it.

NorthWestCharger

Challenger340, I may have to take you up on that. We have a branch in Sparwood so I fly up that way sometimes. Actually flying out that way tomorrow until Friday.

Some photo's of where the car is currently at. I ordered the AMD Rear Valance, & Corners and will tackle that first. It looks like I will need to drill out a few spot welds, any need to know information here?
