Your idea of stuffing a container with parts is a good one; I've done the same when I was in Europe.  A bunch of us got together and ordered a ton of parts which ended up saving us a lot of money.   :yesnod:

Not to mention the container ensures that the parts actually arrive in the same shape as they left the point of origin.

My brother and I had RX4's and RX2's when we were teenagers, they were the poor mans sports coupe, now they are worth good coin.  ;) My first car was an Aussie V8 ex-highway interceptor charger but I couldn't afford to fix the rust in the chassis so it got turfed in favour of the rice burner.  ::) 
I've found there are a few companies here that specialise in importing containers of parts for people so there is a market for it and it can be more hassle than it's worth to do it yourself, those guys have got the importing procedures downpat and know the ins and outs of the system.

there is quite a few chargers and parts here in aus, and a lot of info on this site,
just ask and you shall receive,,
when all you own is a hammer, every job  resembles a nail.

Hi Guys. Thanks for the warm welcoming and hello to my fellow blokes from downunder. Any tips for local suppliers and parts to start with before I start sourcing in the states? Mainly looking for panels and interior parts. Ill get my driveline from the U.S.

No such thing as a good local supplier,
Learn to do it on line yourself , ask on here from us guys who have done it many times , I have several guys who import cars, and they let me ship my larger stuff packed in with and around there cars
Bit of a wait , but a lot cheaper,
Cut the middle men out shop your self ,
If in doubt who and where to get the best , ? Just ask on here

Yeah I was guessing bringing parts in a container alongside another import would be the best bet. Or I might go over there on vacation and bring a boat in and fill up around it with parts. Only thing is the $ isnt the best at the moment. Im from Sydney. Nice to meet you mate.

Since you do have quite some time before you start the resto mod, my suggestion is to make a list of everything you need, down to the last bolt, and order the lot in one go when you have all the funds.  The $ can go either way, no telling what it wil be in 6 months.    If you ship several orders it will just end up costing you more in the long run.

You have the time to wait and have it all come over in a container or wih an importer.   No hassle, no headache.  And if you time it right, it'll be your best Christmas ever.   :icon_smile_big:

Well Guys - The project has finally taken off - (Started in December 2016) so I will be posting some pics up soon. Needless to say we were dissapointed with the original body and how much rust and dodgy repairs were done to make the car presentable. So yes AMD has come to the rescue much to my own expense - but I can honestly say the car will pretty much be brand new when it's finished.

After taking to the rear quarters with a stripping disc we found some heartbreaking discoveries - someone had spent some serious time making this thing look decent!

With some pretty serious rust issues to deal with I contacted my local AMD Dealer "PRO STREET RESTORATIONS" for some new parts. I soon discovered this job was way out of my personal capability - and therefore decided to hand the job over to more experienced hands

 Very cool, great to see your project moving along.  Wheel tubs are monsters, what size wheel and tires you planning on using?
