That actually happens more than you know at the NASCAR tracks and it's always the same story.  Erecting flag pole touches lines.  boom dead!
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Sounds like a good business to start making them, could use PVC or something.  Gosh knows people ain't gonna learn otherwise and NASCAR is just getting bigger.  You should run with it.  Home depot about 3 bucks for a sturdy 8 foot piece.
