68 charger garage barn find today amazing time capsule

  no jack instuctions ?  anyone else seen this in a 68  ?

  the only thing i have found the car to be missing is the jack hold down spring , I know they repop them but does anyone have an original ?
would really like to find an original maybe even with some patina on it

yes funny thing is it wasnt an ordered car and it sold so fast  , Plant must have shipped it to the dealer Fast

Not being cheap, but they wanted 30 dollars just to sell 50 dollars worth of parts.  
BTW, when are you going to try to get that 383 running ?

no hurry want to take it slow and do it right ,  I have the priming tool now that goes down where the distributor is . Then also want to soak down the cylinders first and let them set  a week or so , then hand turn it over .
We are taking it to columbia show next week for fathers day . Then we will start cleaning it up .

Taking things slow and soaking everything is a good idea. Your so lucky it's a big block. When you get it running, add dual exhaust and a 4 barrel.  It won't hurt the value imo.

Thanks for the trunk pics Stu. My '68 has a SPD of 4-15. I've seen a couple different fasteners for the tail panel trim and the PO of my car made a mess of the hardware, so I'm trying to find out what my car may have came with...

i'm far from a expert on 68 fender tags ,   I await to be corrected

Looks to me like the underside of the hood was painted. I was under the impression that the deck lid latch was never painted from the factory. This one looks to be painted? (hard to tell in that pic)

several people looked at it and didnt think so , for sure they said the bolt had not been loose and it hadnt been off the car , so ruled out a replacement lid

Maybe just a lazy assembler, the rubber anti rattle tube on the trunk torsion bars is not centered.

Can you see any glue residue? Sometimes it takes a bit of Windex or water to highlight where the glue was. You can tell because the surface has a different sheen to it.

It's definitely one of the early style trunk lids where they didn't punch out the "centers" on the sub structure.

I had heard that Mondays/Fridays were the build days to avoid back in the 80s..  They had owned a dealership at one point. Ford IIRC.

I've seen chargers with painted striker. All I've seen were on St. Louis cars. Usually they are adjusted after the fact too.
