I found this on ebay, not sure if this is a fair price or not as I only have a regular 69.
anyway I posted link above.
not sure how to do the screen shots.

Of course it's not fair price .....it's completely ridiculous. You can buy a whole car for that...not a Daytona obviously but even so. And if someone with more money than brain cells actually pays that for three process of alloy it will just make the prices of these parts even more unobtainable for the car enthusiasts who is just a regular Joe. And the next seller will justify the price of theirs based on what this one sold for and so it goes on. I hope he can't sell it. I've seen a few recently in the two to five grand bracket...still silly money but at least  it puts one in reach of a guy on a normal sort of wage. The seller is a just a guy with a desirable object trying his luck imo. I don't see the original paint as a selling point either as it will need a respray even if it goes on a red car unless it's a tatty daily driver...in which case they won't pay that money for it.

WINGMAN

There is also one for 6K but needs thread repair. People think just that they have one you can ask the moon.  :Twocents: Wingman  Jay.
69 Daytona XX29L9B409032 , 02 Ram Cummins,

Hemi Runner

It's not even NOS. Same seller has a bird wing.

Bad B-rad

I thought the price was high, but you said it best, I am just a regular guy.
I have two kids. a wife, a house, bills just like everyone else, I bust my a$$ for the things I got, and I just bought a 69 Charger in Dec,2016 and I paid about what he wants for that wing!!!!LOL and that is for a very nice car but it still needs a ton of work, and I thought that sucked. Its a lot of money, for a guy like me.

I don't have Daytona, or Superbird, money, hell I don't even have Hemi car money(unless it is a 2005 and up Hemi :icon_smile_big: )

So I was not sure if it was crazy or if that is what people pay for real wings.

alfaitalia

 :2thumbs:

I here ya. Over here even the most regular parts are difficult to find and fortunes to buy. It's either pay silly UK prices or order from the State's and then wait weeks for delivery...and then pay 20% import tax (and that's 20% on the cost of the items AND the shipping...robbing gits!) Does not help that the USA appears to have the most expensive postage in the developed World ! lol! So just be thankful you guys are building then where they where built. Although I will stand out from the crowd even more than you guys when its done so it's probably worth it....or so I keep telling the Mrs. Just takes time to accrue the cash each time I move on to the next phase....regular bloke with a fairly normal job here too. Good luck matey!

At the same time, I know a guy who has an original 69 Daytona nose cone, and he thinks the world of it, its like one of his most prized things, and he talks all the time about how some guy that builds fiberglass noses and parts for them wants his nose so bad and has offered big money on it, but he isn't selling it.
The guy has a rusted out 1996 Ram 1500 with a million miles that just puked the trans sitting in his yard for months,
that he is trying to get going so he can get to work, when he does work.
What I am getting at is he and his wife do not even have a car to drive, let alone a decent car to drive, and he has a nose cone, that is worth a few grand in his storage unit.
If I were him I would launch that thing and gets some decent wheels, because he is never gonna build a Daytona, and defiantly, not from the nose, up!!!!!!

But he loves owning that nose.

held1823

tell him i'll trade him a running/driving car for that nose, and it will go on a real daytona, even

I can give you his contact info, but as I said, he has had the nose for years, and wears it like a badge of honor.
And if he has had offers I do not know why he has not let it go, and gotten a car or what ever with the cash.
He is not my best buddy or anyt

If you want PM me, and we can chat, as I would not want him  just posting my phone number up for everyone, so I will respect his privacy, a bit.

The "aftermarket" has yet to cast a wing like the original uprights, or make an extrusion of the center blade like the originals, of the various cast aftermarket wings over the decades they all fell short in one major area, not taking into account casting shrinkage, aftermarket wings are slightly smaller in all proportions as they were tooled off originals or other repros on the market, and no provisions were taken to account for casting shrinkage, you can't even put an original/NOS wing base gasket on them without having to trim it down to fit the reduced size, another give away to repro cast wings is that they are made up of several cast pieces welded together

Am I the only one that thinks that $15,000 isn't that bad if you needed one?

Yes it's a lot of money. But where are you going to get another original wing from?

Redbird

Wings almost always survived accidents, did not rust away, and because of their uniqueness were almost always saved. They may be stored above a garage or on a regular Charger, but they are still here.

This guy dropped his price on that wing.

Why is this thread labeled NOS? Was there a NOS one for sale in this thread?  Am I missing something?  Is OEM the same as NOS when it's a Daytona wing? :shruggy:

birdsandbees

This one, the orange in the link, would be OEM. Original Equipment Manufacter.

NOS = NEW Old Stock.

I know the definitions of the two, the question was "Why is this thread labeled NOS?"

alfaitalia

Fair comment...the wing certainly is not NOS !
