Its dumb, I agree.  But I also agree with what was said above...  Its their car.

I want a 2nd gen, always have.  As high as prices are now I may never be able to afford to build one now...  Im still in denial of that one.  Every car that is wrecked just makes it one less chance I have at being able to have mine, but still the fact remains there are a ton of stupid people in the world and they will never go away.  Stupid people doing stupid things...  You gotta learn to just not give a sh*t what everyone else is doing, or you will go crazy with all the stupidity out there.   :yesnod:

Quoteps- Did anyone notice this little quote? "This car will be jumped live on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 2 P.M. by stuntmen James Smith, Robert Smit, Richard Cummings, Tom Sarmento and Scott Sarmento." Does this mean 5 seperate people are jumping the car?

I hope the pack all five of the jerks in there, and put the promoter in the trunk.

Why use a perfectly good R/T, when there are all those Genny Lees on Hlpags lot?  Those are alot better suited as jump cars.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

I say we get even by parking a '69 Cramaro on a set of busy railroad tracks and then filming the mayhem. :icon_smile_evil:

JimShine

I didn't know this was still going on. That sucks. The car model is important, but so is its past as a promo car. Lots of 30 somethings have pictures of themselves as kids next to this very car! It should be preserved, not totalled. All this jump stuff sucks. But there is nothing I can do about it.

I'd pay to see that  - and there's no guilt 'cause you can buy a new one in the Summit catalogue - piece by piece of course.

exscuse my french but WHAT THE FUCK? a real 440-4peed r/t charger as a jump car? why not just use a beyond repair 318 junker?-MATT

:iagree:

The ad says,    "Please be advised: You are bidding for the car—or what's left of the car—after it is jumped."     so sad.   :'( :rotz:

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

JMF

What a shame, I could have that car and it would be loved instead of being jumped, makes me sick

It's nuts.

Like I said, even the stunt guys aren't hot about wrecking this car.  Part of the reason they took the job was because if they didn't, then the shop was just gonna hire someone else who's less qualified.  They could have refused on principle and the car might have ended up front-flipping or killing spectators.

While I can understand the reasoning behind this arguement and I even agree with it, I would not be bummed out if they jumped it with an amatuer stunt man and he ends up getting hurt and then turning around and sueing the pants off the morons who staged this event to put them out of business.

I sent this link to a buddy of mine in the Navy and he made this statement which is quite to the point.

Bidding on this car after the jump is like buying the Mona Lisa after they used it in a dart game.............

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms should be a convenience store NOT a government agency!

like i say   they gotta get their rocks off.   LETS KILL ALL THE CHARGERS SO THE KIDS COMING UP WONT HAVE A CHANCE TO OWN ONE TO FIX UP  :-\   I'M NOT FOR IT !!

I feel the same way about 70+ barracudas.
I loved seeing them on tv with nash bridged but got bumbed out when ever they wrecked one.
They can afford them, I cant, end of story.

Has any one offered to trade this guy a non-RT of equal condition insted of just being mad about it?

Why don't they jump an 06 Charger, No one here would care and Daimler could use the sales :icon_smile_big:

I agree it's their car and they can do whatever they want, But if someone wants to take a Original R/T Hemi Car and Put a Paper mache pile of Dog Sh** on the hood, I still am going to think they are cracked and need to be beat down! ;D, But hey it's their car.

Re:Trading it for another car,  I would give them my '70 in a heartbeat to have a real R/T 4spd. But I think they have their heads so far up their a**es that they have to stick their noses out their bellybutton for air!

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't fix your brakes, but don't worry I made your horn louder."

You beat me to it!

One of those things painted up as a GL, and instead of jumping it, use a trebuchet, and, instead of a stuntman - Trevor Creed. :D

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

THE COLONEL

I agree with MikeD.  The General Lee faithful are totaly against this jump.  I just don't understand it myself. ::) ::)  My argument is the same as everyone elses.  Original Rt 4 Speed. :o :o  STUPID!!!  But it is their car.......................... ::)

Maybe we could get somebody to chain themselves to it so they can't jump it!  Sorta like that girl who lived in a tree for a year so they couldn't cut it down.   Sigh.  These people are what I like to call 'genetic cul-de-sacs.'

I'm against destroying any of these cars. I made a statement about it in another thread that got locked up. There were a few members who didn't like what I said about The Dukes of Hazard and shot me down for it. RT or not, if it isn't rusted into the frame rails there's a possibility a Charger can be saved. It's all for the sake of entertainment. Hell, I get plenty of entertainment watching people turn there heads when I drive by in my 68. People on this board can appreciate what it takes to keep these cars alive, people who don't will probably enjoy watching the car get destroyed. I say, start complaining to ebay, there showing pictures of something in there auction that's not going to be the same as what the bidder will actually win.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

plum500

That's a really interesting point about the auction. I believe it says "as is" condition, when it should really indicate "not as is".
