im picking this charger up in a little over a week on my way to north dakota to work on a few cars, a guy on facebook post it as a find out in the country and i wanted it, we made a deal and i get to own this beauty  :icon_smile_big: its already named bonnie as it reminds me of the shot up bonnie and clyde bank robbery car. its a 331 paint, charger red with white interior 383 4bbl 4 speed car with console. purdy cool combo i think...worthy of just restoring original on this one. it looks really solid but beat to shit. so im hoping just outer sheetmetal and maybe straighten out some inner on the door jambs.

I guess that's what happens to cars abandoned in fields...

this should be an interesting car when you are done with it.   :scratchchin:

68 383 4bbl 4spd cars are not that common. Just under 300 units IIRC.

Wonderful color combination btw.   :2thumbs:

I commend your enthusiasm to fix these old cars.... That looks like a lot of hammering.   :buff:

Proper, time aged, desert weathered  patina.......= very cool :icon_smile_cool:. Painted on artificial patina to make a car look like something it isn't .......=very sad indeed!! :smilielol:
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you !!

Ah yes, the old "this or that" false choice, natural vs. artificial. Hard habit to kick, and to live with. But good luck with that! Say, do ya s'pose they thought of that with the vinyl top (aka false convertible)? Nah...we never do such foolish things. Rules is rules. Good catch. BTW, if we could commission anyone to paint it, it'd be Banksy, and our Banksy Shop U.K. T-shirts just arrived f/ London.

Surprisingly, the floor and trunk pans look to be the best parts of the car.

I'd like to find an old clapped out Charger like this and park it in my field as a yard ornament, maybe plant a tree to grow out of the engine bay.  Huge props to you for wanting to bring it back from the dead.

i dont think its really all that bad actually, roof skin, both quarters and maybe rear door jambs. much less needed than some of my cars. i have enough parts to put it together

Charger_Fan

Wow, that's really impressive how rust free the floors & trunk seem to be! I wonder low long it's been sitting there? This is one of those cases where I wish old cars could talk, it would be interesting to know how it ended up there. Make sure to show us more pics when you get it home. :2thumbs:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)
